Course Description

Enjoy a full day each of kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding along the picturesque coast in Freeport, Maine. On your kayaking day, Registered Maine Guides will explain kayak design, paddling terminology and boat fit. These instructors will help you feel comfortable in a solo sea kayak, teaching you step by step how to paddle and maneuver your kayak. After some practice, you'll travel along the rocky island coastline of Casco Bay on a guided tour.

During your one-night stay, you'll enjoy our oceanfront campground that comes equipped with large tents, cots, sleeping bags, hot showers and many other amenities. A lobster or steak dinner will be served that evening at the oceanfront pavilion, followed by dessert, a campfire and a quiet, relaxing night under the stars.

You'll awake in the morning to the sound of the ocean lapping the shore and the smell of a delicious breakfast that will fuel your day of paddleboarding. Your instructors will explain board design, paddling terminology and board selection, and then you'll spend the morning learning and practicing stand-up paddling strokes. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy a tour that puts your new skills to practice. Your adventure will conclude with a leisurely paddle back to our paddling center.

All necessary paddleboarding and camping equipment is provided.

NOTE: If you are interested in a customized version of this trip (adjusted length, dates, etc.), please call us at 1-888-615-9979. We are happy to discuss custom trip options with you.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion. †Please call ahead if you plan to use your own equipment as it must pass inspection by L.L.Bean staff before use. If it's deemed unsuitable, we will provide you with the necessary equipment.
