Recently bought this in an XL - could have bought a L, but I love it. So comfortable and soft! Didn't have an issue with tight arms or buttons, good fit and looks great!

I had hoped that this cardigan would be like the cardigans of old but it isn't. It fit me in an XL but it was not quite long enough. Of course, I have a long torso and along with that, I've gained weight, so nothing is quite long enough on me.
Nonetheless, I could have worn it but there was something wrong with the buttons - perhaps too small? - that made the cardigan look cheap. Perhaps they are too close together?
Whatever it is, the basic style is very unstylish, in my opinion, and I was so disappointed. I hope LLB will come back in the Spring with a similar cotton cardigan that's been restyled!

This cardigan cannot be buttoned across the front, and the sleeves are way too long and tight. Unbuttoned, it looks too big and flappy. If you are a tall slim person with very thin arms this should work fine. I am 5'6" and 155 lbs, ordered the medium. A very odd design. The fabric is soft and comfy, however. Not worth the postage to send it back.

I have warn this cardigan a few times now and I love how I can use it to dress up jeans or wear with slacks for work. It is well made and as per some of the reviews I ordered a medium instead of a small to allow for some shrinkage - which it did slightly with the first wash. I still have enough room to wear it over a thin sweater or turtle neck but it is not too big with a regular shirt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DeedsNVA Good solid cardigan
Got this in Aqua Sea, nice color. Ordered Medium, full cut, hoping it shrinks some in wash. I'm 5'7" 136 lbs and Small may have been better, but will throw it in a hot dryer if necessary. I really like the material, it's a medium weight and very soft. Would have preferred it be a bit more tapered but I like the feel of it, will work with it to style it up a bit!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Wings23 Nice basic cardigan
I bought the mallard blue color this summer and really liked it so I ordered two more this fall. The royal blue color is very nice and goes with a lot. The plum color is more like a purplish fushia and goes with absolutely nothing I own, and I own a lot in shades of purple and plum. I also have some fushia and it doesn't match that either. It is just a funny looking color. These are a nice medium weight, good for spring, summer and fall (I live in TX so that equates to good in 60-80 degree weather although I also wear them inside in 100 degree weather with air conditioning). They fit nicely over a T-shirt type shirt but would not fit over another long sleeve shirt well. Good length on me, low hip (I am 5'4" and wear petite sizes). I like having pockets. The shape of them does not hold up as well as I would like after a couple of washes (the collar gets a little rumply). It fluffs out ok when I wear it, but this is not up to LLBean standards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SJenni Taking another chance on it....
I purchased the coral striped cardigan in one size larger than usual after reading reviews. Of course, the shoulders were a bit wide and the sleeves naturally were too long. So I exchanged it for one size smaller. It fit much better on me. I washed it and like one of the other reviewers, the placket would not lie flat. But to my surprise, it also shrunk. Enough that when buttoned it was tight against my body and the sleeves were tighter. So I exchanged it - back to the larger size again. Hopefully even it this one does shrink a bit, it will still fit. About the placket....I did not try to flatten the first one with a steam iron, but will if this one puckers after washing. Keeping my fingers crossed, since I like the style and color/s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wings23 Soft Simple Knit Cardigan
I wear long sleeves year round since I moved to TX. That sounds funny, right? Turns out Texans really like their air conditioning. So I always keep a lightweight cardigan with me once it gets warmer for the places where they crank down the temps. It can be hard to find long sleeve cardigans that are light enough for our weather (typically all heavier weight or 3/4 sleeves which I can't stand). This cardigan fit the bill nicely and I wish it was available in more colors. I got the deep mallard. (I already have a coral one from a couple years ago from Beans and the other color just won't match anything I own). White, navy, summer red, lavender would all be nice. This is a soft but well made knit that falls to mid hip. I am 5' 4" and typically wear regular size tops but petite bottoms if that helps. To me, that is the perfect length, long enough that when I lean over with low rise pants nothing shows, but not so long it looks silly. It is fitted so it does not have that bulky boyfriend look that a lot of these knit cardigans have. True to other LLbean sizing. This will get a lot of use.

by GardenStitcher Stretchy placket, looks dirty
Unfortunately this is the least favorite thing I have ordered from LL Bean in a while.
(1) When it arrived, it had that odd odor some new things have, so I washed it. The placket would not lie flat afterwards. (see pic). To get the lines running in a different direction on the placket, it seems to have been sewn on the stretchy direction. A stabilizer in the placket might have minimized this.
(2) The cardigan looked faintly dirty....mine is a white and orange stripe (probably called coral or something else, but it looks like a pretty orange), and when I looked very closely at the white, it is not a solid white but looks to have tiny bits of greys in it, which overall, makes it look a bit dingy.
Sorry, LLBean, this garment is definitely not up to your standards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by lovethebirds Disappointing cardigan with design flaws
This cardigan didn't work for me. I would hardly call it "Relaxed" fit, the sleeves were rather tight to pull it on over an LLB long sleeve tee, let alone a blouse and no, I do not have fat arms. I knew other reviews said it was long and decided I could live with that, however it was only OK if you didn't plan to ever button it fully. If you tried, you would have to pull the bottom few buttons to get them to meet with the buttonholes. This is not flattering when it is tight over one's pants and gathers them instead of laying on top of them. As I wouldn't get enough use of it with the above limitations, unbuttoned and short sleeve tops only, it will be returned. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that I am having problems with LLB garments that don't allow enough room to accomodate the hips within the stated size range and to be worn over garments that one should be expected to be wearing. Can't speak for others but I don't wear tops over bare hips!
