Rated 3 out of 5 by LinusLucyOscar Not waterproof
This coat says waterproof but at best it is water resistant. After 10 minutes out in the rain with my dog a few days ago I was damp, especially through the sleeves. The description clearly says waterproof, and for the price I expected that to be the case. This is disappointing because it is a nice coat. The length is excellent and it is a nice design. But, it is more of a lightweight shell than a coat. It would do well as something to wear in a light rain or when one is doing errands and in and out of the car a lot. But it is not reliable as a waterproof coat for any length of time in the rain, which was what I was looking for.

Great raincoat for many reasons. Light, takes up no room when packing, generous hood, extra coverage in the back, zipper and snaps. I happen to like the little duck tail in the back. It gives the coat character!

Rated 2 out of 5 by happytraveler3 Weird back flaps
I returned this because of the extra-long back flaps, which are terrible. Flapped down, it looks like a duck's tail; flapped up, they don't sit flat and so you have this weird lumpy section of the jacket. Too bad, because otherwise the jacket seems pretty good.

Rated 2 out of 5 by TravelinGirly Great jacket with the worst zipper in the world
I bought this jacket for a trip to Scotland's wet weather. The fit is wonderful as it leave room for layering. The fabric sheds water beautifully and in windy conditions it keeps the wind away. However, the zipper is a nightmare. I had read the other reviews and thought...I'm experienced with double zippers and they have never caused a problem. The zipper on this jacket is unlike any other double zipper I have ever used in that it does not line up and zip. The frustration level is high trying to get the thing to zip. Quite often I used the snap to close the jacket but that did not make for a "tight" closure. Bottom line - it's a fabulous jacket with a horrible zipper. That's why the 2...the zipper.

Love this raincoat !! The fit is true and I like the longer length, yet it is SO lightweight and comfortable. Hood is large enough to cover, yet not too big. Love the aqua color also. Thanks LL Bean once again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Waimea Just what I was looking for
After getting soaked recently with my old raincoat, I decided it was time to look for strictly waterproof raincoats. I knew LLBean would have what I needed. This coat is perfect, love the color, and the long flap in the back is a great idea. Although I don't consider myself Petite, I Ordered a Petite Large after checking the size chart, the sleeve length is better in the petite for me. This coat has many features that are useful.

The jacket fits well and packs small. Features I liked were: snaps instead of Velcro (it often snags clothing), longer hem in back for better coverage, with snaps to even out hem if you want and removable hood. Works great for travel with plenty of options to customize it.s

Rated 4 out of 5 by 30yrBeanGirl Back Bay Raincoat
I ordered this for the longer length. I got the teal blue which is a very pretty color in person The XS Reg. length gives me ample coverage from rain and is roomy enough for an underlayer yet I'm not "swimming" in it. (5'2"/100 lbs.). I've yet to try it out in the rain hence the 4 star rating. I like the zip front chest pockets. The ample hood coverage is a plus as so many other rain jackets give you whimpy hoods. I like the drop tail bottom and the snaps that let you fasten it up if you choose. Nice little touch; not hard to adjust. One little request would be to put zippers on the hand pockets; since they are on a slant. Other than that, I think I'll wear this rain jacket often.

I just spent 3 days in Washington DC to tour many of the monuments, museums and other landmarks. It rained the whole time, much of it so torrential that there was massive flooding! My Back Bay raincoat kept me perfectly dry (at least from my mid thigh and up! - would have needed high boots to keep the bottom half dry...) while I walked around the monuments, and between the other sites. I walked between 5-6 miles each day, and was delighted with the performance of my raincoat.
