I wanted to love these pants. Had my hopes up waiting for the green bag. But they were pretty awful on. I have a shorter rise and these are for the well endowed rise folks. Looked frumpy and not cute. The fabric felt great and the plum color was a great juxtaposition to the more masculine cargo pant. I was bummed. They went back in that green bag ....
For reference. On the cusps of 30, 5'9", 145 lbs. ordered an 8 tall. Good fit overall if it wasn't for the rise issue.

These are my favorite pants. I have them in every color and find them to be very useful. When I walk my dogs, there are pockets for pick-up bags, treats, keys, cellphone, a medical device. Awesome when I don't want to carry a purse.
I am very sad to see that these are selling out in every color and size. It looks like Bean is discontinuing them. Please don't! I guess I will have to start searching the web for replacement cargo pants.

It is great to find a sturdy pair of pants that does not have an elasticized waist band! These pants are cut generously but are very well made. Lots of great pockets and comfortable from day one. I found the pants to be mostly true in waist size but cut generously in the legs. I usually wear size 8 (5'3", #135). I am keeping the 8s but I am also ordering a size 6 to see if that also fits since the leg cut is generous while the waist is only a little big.

I purchased these pants before a vacation to Florida in February of this year. I LOVE that they can be worn as either capris or left as long pants. they can be dressed up or dressed down. Perfect for vacation! I like the color and the fit. HOWEVER, there are two significant problems. 1) The front pockets are quite shallow and I have lost items out of them on a number of occasions. "Excuse me Ma'am, you dropped your wallet." OK, so I started buttoning my wallet in the pocket on the side of the leg. 2) The buttons on the side pockets are the second problem. One already came off and the other one is almost off. The thread used to attach these buttons is VERY thin. These are suppose to be CARGO pants! I have had these pants for only FOUR MONTHS!!! NOT AT ALL what I have come to expect from LLBean. I am really disappointed.

I'm wearing the pants right this second, and the button at the waist is uncomfortably tight. I'll move the button over a bit myself. I wear a size 2, and have a flat stomach, and I've never had pants feel tight across my stomach before. There's no way I would return these pants, though, because everything else about them is perfect! The fabric is smooth yet substantial. They look very neat; the leg pockets are sewn in a way that keeps them relatively flat,so they hold stuff without looking like pouches. They're not messy and baggy like other cargo pants I've seen in stores. Good Job LL!

Guess I'm one of the few reviewers who does not mind the drawstring at the waist. I am 5'4", 125 - 128 lbs. with a small-ish waist and usually wear size 8 or 10. I do not like to wear tight clothes. I purchased these cargos in a size 8 regular and they are incredibly comfortable. A little bit loose, but not so much that it looks terrible. The fabric is soft, smooth and sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Yummie Love these pants..
These are now my go to pants for summer. After buying one pair I just ordered two more in different colors.
They're so comfortable and come up to the waist. As others mentioned I got rid of the bow string. Just didn't like it. But that is all I found to not like about these pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Outdoorlover2 I really love these pants
I have the worst time finding pants I like that fit well. I'm 5'4" 120lbs and I like the 8 petite as I usually wear leggings underneath for warmth, and like my pants on the loose/comfortable side. I'm buying my second pair, I can't seem to keep the first pair clean and ironed quick enough to wear as much as I'd like.

Rated 3 out of 5 by stokelady comfortable stretch fabric but not at waist
I have had Southport pants previously and found them comfortable but this version seemed extra baggy in the hips and thighs and very tight at the waist. I would probably have kept them if the waist had been a little more generous making the the drawstring practical for adjustments. Length was good. Stretch fabric an improvement over basic cotton twill.

Almost. If these had belt loops, I'd be satisfied. Cotton stretches during the day, so with the weight of a smart phone, the pants will sag before the end of the day.
The drawstring is a worthless "design feature". It is too flimsy provide the support a belt can. Also, annoying. I remove them. I just returned some Southport pants, and now regret it. I'd hoped the new ripstop pants would meet my needs, yet the pockets on those are too shallow. So ironically, I'm purchasing more of these. I can add belt loops more easily then enlarging a pocket.
