Anyone looking for a high quality fleece jacket this has to be it.
I ordered this jacket at the end of February and received it at the beginning of March and was happy to have it.
The quality of the jacket is very high featuring a combination of materials to give you a light weight plus increased mobility.
The thickness of the material really surprised me as this was a far more sturdier jacket than I was first thinking it would be.
I have worn it many times in wind and it is able to repel most gusts that I came across within reason.
I have also tested it's cold resistance in 0C/32F and it was able to keep me warm. From what I can tell this jacket is probably good on it's own to about -10C or -15C in moderate winds depending on activity levels and under-layers worn. I would not suggest going much beyond this point with the jacket by itself as I don't believe it was meant to handle very cold temperatures on it's own.
The jacket also works great as an under-layer for a shell such as
the Ascent Gore-Tex Pro Shell which I also own and have worn over the Insulated Fleece jacket which makes for a very warm combination.
As an added bonus my Pro Shell's color is Ridge Blue/Collegiate Blue which matches the Insulated Fleece's color of Dark Royal Blue/Bright Navy quite well.
As with any jacket I think may be used as outerwear I ordered the X-Large for layering purposes. This is where I have to agree with many other reviews here in the fact that this jacket is sized differently or just smaller than normal. I definitely would recommend ordering a size up from your usual and possibly even a tall if you like more coverage on the lower body. As others have also noted the arms are a little tight but not to bad in my jacket possibly because I ordered a size up.
You will find ample pockets on this jacket with two large internal lower pouches and three external pockets with nice zips.
One feature I had to mention because I have not seen it previously on any jacket and that I thought added a touch of class was the internal fleece cuffs which also act as a form of cuff adjustment by pulling in the opening without being restrictive. Very nice indeed.
Overall I would have to say this is a very fine insulated fleece jacket for many situations and with some minor improvements will be absolutely unbeatable for the price. Also in my case this is a one of a kind that I can only get from L.L. Bean, no one else here sells a jacket such as this. Another winner from L.L.Bean and customer service to boot!

This is the perfect jacket, especially because it is a little bit on the snug side (I am 6 and 185 lbs, large fits perfect).
Excellent with a t-shirt or long sleeve warmer tee under it and using it as a layer under my leather jacket instead of a sweater.
Totally happy , hope it ll last for lots of years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JEllen good-looking and warm
This was exactly what our son requested to replace a similar model from 10 years ago. It's slightly less heavy but still very warm, and the new model has water repellent sections, which the old one did not. Fit is good except for the upper arms, which he feels run a little snug. It would be difficult to wear anything slightly heavy under this jacket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Thomas2 Sleeves are too tight
This is a really nice jacket except the bottom half of the sleeves between my wrist and elbow were too tight. I read about this in a few of the reviews, but I thought since I have skinny arms it would fit me. The fit is so tight it pulled up the sleeves of my shirt I was wearing underneath. Also, it was difficult for me to bend my arms at the elbows because the sleeves were so tight. I really wanted to keep this jacket, but the tight sleeves were the deal breaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LiveinDallas Much More than I expected
First thing: I am a real person and a customer of LL Bean for 30 years. I needed a fleece type coat more substantial that really did block the wind (as many claim but don't) and was warmer. I was stunned! This jacket fits perfectly. Blocks 95% of the wind. It is heavier but not bulky. The different material on the wear points is very smart. Got way more than I paid for. What a good feeling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BklyniteCommuter Good fleece - could be heavier weight.
Fits well, sleeves are a little long. Good pockets. Thought it would be a heavier weight fleece, the insulation used is a thin membrane in between the fleece layers. Overall, a good jacket, but could be better.

I have been in the market for a heavier weight, windproof fleece to wear in colder weather. I tried other brands but did not find them to meet my needs. This L.L. Bean Insulated Fleece Jacket fits the bill as it is really warm and it is windproof, without the weight of a heavy winter jacket. It is made well with a great collar that really keeps the cold wind out and the warmth in. I hope that L.L. Bean will make a hoodie version soon!

Fortunately, this fleece fits under my Wind Challenger Fleece making it warm and windproof. Alone, I could feel the cold (40 degrees) in a very mild breeze. Not what I had expected from a heavier, insulated fleece. It also layers well under my Penobscot Thinsulate Parka and a light Bean nylon jacket.. These are the reasons that keep me from returning it. It's super comfortable, especially the collar. No need for a neck gaiter. Yes, a bit tight in the pits but no biggie. Overall I lean towards a more windproof/nylon/Primaloft type jacket but this fleece has its place in the line up. The weather is always changing. I wear a 44 Reg and it's snug fit that allows movement. Sleeve length is fine. Body length is a bit short but as a layer it works. I looked at many alternatives and this was the only one I would buy.

Love this jacket. Looks sharp, incredibly warm for a fleece and fits me well (though it tends to run on small size--I am 6 ft. 180 and XL is perfect).
