Rated 2 out of 5 by Jon the sleeves are so tight
This should have been the perfect jacket but I should have heeded the other customer reviews: the sleeves are very tight. I am a small person, size M REG. I have regular small arms (and forearms for that matter). I ordered a Large just to compensate for tightness in the sleeves area but it is so tight, you cannot wear any kind of long sleeve shirt or sweater or any kind of layering. Even without anything covering your forearms, the sleeves are just plain tight. Around the body is OK but it is a total flop down in the sleeves area. This should have been the perfect jacket. It is going back.

I live in the northeast, and I have used this jacket from hard storms, cold rainy days, and fall conditions. I even used it to snowboard, and it handles well.
I've stayed dry, warm, and comfortable each and every time.
My only gripe, is possibly the small bump one gets when wearing the jacket. It usually appears around the stomach area and is a bit awkward. But a small trade off for an amazing product.
I love this jacket, and have no plans to switch it out anytime soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MarkyMarky Very Satisfied!
I was tentative ordering this jacket due to many poor customer reviews. However, I am very glad I did! Stylish fit and very warm! I am of medium build and a large fits well. I have not experienced the "tight" sleeves issue so many talked about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by njsportsman mens insulated fleece jacket
Just received my fleece jacket and it is great. I ordered one size up based on other reviews and the fit is perfect. It will easily fit under an outer shell if desired. It is a trim fit. I am 5ft. 10in and 170lbs and ordered a large/reg. Other fleece jackets have been fine but this one is the best. Naturally the sale price made it a no brainer.

In addition to the sleeve issues I am disappointed that the flap behind the zipper does not do a very effective job. I thought the pocket material in conjunction with the zipper flap would eliminate the flow of cold air on windy days. Unfortunately this is not the case as cold air still enters the pockets. At this price level I expect better insulation. Otherwise this is a good buy at the sales price

Rated 5 out of 5 by cavesar order 1 or 2 sizes up, too tight sleeves
The perfect heavier fleece top layer - wind stopper fabric outside plus insulation plus fleece on the inside. A sample swatch of the wind stopper, insulation, fleece sandwich is included.
So for those colder days instead of adding a 3 layer over your fleece, make this your second layer.
Now for the sleeve sizing that other folks have also noted.
I have multiple LL Bean Fleece jacket and vest combos in Men Medium that fit perfectly. On the jackets there is enough room in the cuffs to fit over heavy long sleeve shirts or long underwear.
Not with this jacket. Even with bare arms the cuffs are too tight. The body is good.
So here are my sizing thoughts.
* Over a vest order one size up,
* Over a sweater, fleece jacket as "3d layer," then you will probably need to order 2 sizes up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NHActive Great 3 Season Jacket and more
I have bought two of these jackets to use for walking, hiking, and "playing" with my dog. I also wear them to work, errands, traveling with or without LL Beans Primaloft. I have found these fleece to be very comfortable to wear in a variety of temperatures and conditions. During our recent Noreaster (Jan 2014) These fleece have kept me comfortable while shoveling the driveway, walking the dog or running errands, with the temperatures in the single digits with out the wind chill.

Rated 2 out of 5 by tallnthin Is LL Bean Reading These Reviews
Ok - I am cheap so the jacket looked like a deal and half the reviews were very positive. I am tall and very thin/skinny so ordered the large tall which is usually more than enough girth. The jacket looks good but the sleeves are too tight/small (length was spot on) and the waist length is just long enough not to complain. Two simple things to make it a great coat - less constricting sleeves and smoother sleeve lining (grabs your shirt underneath). Is anyone listening? The same comment has been made for years. You are close but not there yet to claim a legit winner. Maybe why it is on the sale rack?

Anyone looking for a high quality fleece jacket this has to be it.
I ordered this jacket at the end of February and received it at the beginning of March and was happy to have it.
The quality of the jacket is very high featuring a combination of materials to give you a light weight plus increased mobility.
The thickness of the material really surprised me as this was a far more sturdier jacket than I was first thinking it would be.
I have worn it many times in wind and it is able to repel most gusts that I came across within reason.
I have also tested it's cold resistance in 0C/32F and it was able to keep me warm. From what I can tell this jacket is probably good on it's own to about -10C or -15C in moderate winds depending on activity levels and under-layers worn. I would not suggest going much beyond this point with the jacket by itself as I don't believe it was meant to handle very cold temperatures on it's own.
The jacket also works great as an under-layer for a shell such as
the Ascent Gore-Tex Pro Shell which I also own and have worn over the Insulated Fleece jacket which makes for a very warm combination.
As an added bonus my Pro Shell's color is Ridge Blue/Collegiate Blue which matches the Insulated Fleece's color of Dark Royal Blue/Bright Navy quite well.
As with any jacket I think may be used as outerwear I ordered the X-Large for layering purposes. This is where I have to agree with many other reviews here in the fact that this jacket is sized differently or just smaller than normal. I definitely would recommend ordering a size up from your usual and possibly even a tall if you like more coverage on the lower body. As others have also noted the arms are a little tight but not to bad in my jacket possibly because I ordered a size up.
You will find ample pockets on this jacket with two large internal lower pouches and three external pockets with nice zips.
One feature I had to mention because I have not seen it previously on any jacket and that I thought added a touch of class was the internal fleece cuffs which also act as a form of cuff adjustment by pulling in the opening without being restrictive. Very nice indeed.
Overall I would have to say this is a very fine insulated fleece jacket for many situations and with some minor improvements will be absolutely unbeatable for the price. Also in my case this is a one of a kind that I can only get from L.L. Bean, no one else here sells a jacket such as this. Another winner from L.L.Bean and customer service to boot!
