Rated 5 out of 5áby wiscviv not bulky; REALLY warm
I bought this coat primarily to use as a ski jacket. I was not disappointed. I used it this past weekend skiing in the Michigan UP where the early AM temps were sub zero and the high for the day was around 10 degrees F. I used appropriate layers and was NOT cold. It is not bulky; plenty of room around the hips so it does not feel like it is binding over the layers of tights and insulated ski pants. I am 5'3", size 14 and the large fits perfectly. I tried a petite large, as I wear petite length jeans, but this jacket in petite was too short. I only wish other colors were available as the raspberry is not as toned down as I had hoped, and has a more "pink" look than I like. Very good quality jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5áby hey19 warmth without bulk
I have had this jacket for 2 weeks now and I like the fact that it isnt bulky, but very warm. I am 5'4 and 138 pounds and the medium fits good. I often have the problem of the sleeves being too long, but this is perfect. I like the way the back just covers my bottom.

Rated 2 out of 5áby qualitypurchaser Odd fit
I was thrilled to find this coat in my preferred color and size. I'm 5'9"
and 148 lb. and a medium fits well. This coat has all the tickets: Primaloft warmth and the cuff sweater guards and neck warmth/hood. Unbelievably light and not bulky. I returned it because of its odd fit: the sleeves were at least 4" too short, so when reaching forward, the cuffs were midway b/t elbow and wrist. Also, the zipper would barely close up to the neck, because the distance b/t shoulders was too narrow. The only option was exchanging for a large, and the body would have been too full. So sorry, because my previous LLBean Primaloft jacket is still warm and going strong.

áby AnneOkie Pockets in all the right places, perfect length
I've had this coat for a couple of years and I love it more the longer i use it! Long enough to cover my bum but not so long that it's bulky. Super warm, cuts the wind and waterproof! love the variety of pockets - some big for my mittens, some zip for my keys and the right height to warm up the hands... Love the various cinch options... that way i can wear a larger size to make room for layers but still cinch it down so I don't look bulky. I wear it in Alaska to fish and in Oklahoma to work cattle. My go-to coat! Well done L.L. Bean!!!

Rated 2 out of 5áby OtterSpace Not a replacement for my old Rugged Ridge
I bought the new Rugged Ridge because I absolutely love my old one (about 13-14 years old) so much but am tired of the color and the stubborn zipper. As other reviewers have noted, the new one is just not the same as the old one. The fabric is different -- not a big deal to me -- but the fit is so different that it doesn't work for me and is the reason I will be returning it, with regret. The new one (same size) is very tight across the shoulders, a bit short in the arms, enormous around the waist (and looked odd with the elastic adjuster all tightened up), potentially snug around the hips if I gain a few pounds, and I think it's a tiny bit shorter. All in all, it is uncomfortable, which is the last thing I want in a winter jacket I live in. I did like the new fleece inner cuffs and the warmer hood (a flaw of the old jacket) but you can't stow the hood on the new one like you could on the old. The zipper on this new one worked fine, though. Anyway, I'm disappointed and want the fit of the old one to come back!

Rated 3 out of 5áby keeponkeepinon Almost...but not quite
Needed a really warm (sub-zero) totally windproof & waterproof hooded parka. The Rugged Ridge came so close -- extremely warm, windproof, and based on the outer material, waterproof.
But: Too short in length (I'm 5'4", 135# & size medium fit with room to spare); length barely grazed my lower hips -- definitely not a parka; Sleeves too short allowing wind to blow in between mittens and cuffs; No snaps - just little strips of velcro; Very shallow pockets; Poor quality frequently malfunctioning zipper; Overall, the jacket felt a bit bulky and stiff.
Could have lived with all of this, since it was extremely cozy, windproof, and waterproof.
But: couldn't live with the hood, which is a "must have" for me. No vertical adjustment (from brim to back of neck); sides too skimpy -- therefore not enough protection for my face; awkward side closures; couldn't wear it without a winter hat underneath because of the huge gaps on top and sides of hood...nor could I zip the jacket all the way to the top to provide closure under chin.
Hope there's a revision of the Rugged Ridge next year -- if so, I'll be first in line!

Rated 5 out of 5áby StayingFitWalker Lovely & Functional
I ordered both a medium and large. I am 5?3? and 150 lbs, and although the medium was a good fit, I kept the large to allow room for layering. I also found it was easier to zip up the large. Yes, the zipper is plastic, but it is sturdy, and with arthritic hands I happen to like the Velcro enclosures versus metal snaps. I love this jacket! Love the dark raspberry color, love all the pockets, but especially love its warmth. I walk 6.5 miles every day and have been toasty throughout the Polar Vortex. With the stand up fleece collar and good sized hood, my face was well protected during some terribly windy days when temps were minus fifteen. On extreme days, I wear a hooded fleece and head band underneath and am not constricted in any way. The sleeve length is good, as is the overall length ? for me, anything longer could be cumbersome on my long walks. The only criticism is the waistband toggles are located inside the upper pockets and, if you manage to adjust them, the parka bunches up in the front. This is a lovely and functional parka, and I will be enjoying it for many years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5áby ActiveAndTailored Very Warm Parka, Especially for Cold Temps
I purchased this parka in January 2014 for usage on very cold days in the Midwest. I have actually found it to be too warm and now only wear it when the outdoor temps dip below 10 degrees above zero. I am an active outdoor woman and have used this parka on days when the temps are below 5 degrees above zero for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. I wear 2 thin zippered layers and 1 mid weight zippered layer underneath this parka. I love all the pockets and adjustments. I especially enjoy the interior pockets as this is where I stash my flat water bottle and cell phone. The exterior zippered pockets work well for car keys and lip balm.
The only complaint I have about this parka is the sleeve length. I wish it was 1-2 inches longer. I am 5'10" tall, weigh 148 lbs and ordered a Misses Large. Additional colors would also be appreciated; Maybe a green and blue combination, something more feminine.

Rated 5 out of 5áby ccmama Passed the -30 temp test!
I purchased this parka in December 2013. I needed something that would stand up to Michigan winters. I stayed toasty warm with just a short sleeve T-shirt under this in -30 wind chills while clearing the driveway.

Rated 5 out of 5áby northernR Warm but not bulky
I was a little concerned buying this parka with some of the negative reviews, but needed something so I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. It is very warm (and we have had some cold days this winter!) and not bulky. I haven't had any problems with the zipper (hopefully I won't after writing this!). I might just need to pay a little more attention to get it zipped correctly, but not a big deal. I'm very happy with this jacket.
