I purchased this coat for me a while ago and just loved the warmth of it. My daughter is in Korea and the winters are brutal over there. Got her this coat to make it through the winters and she says she loves this coat...it keeps her warm over there is the most frigid of winters.

I had been looking for a full length warm down coat for some years, and finally found it online at L L bean. I have been happy and warm ever since! People don't wear long coats in Australia, and they say things like "where do you think you are...in Alaska..?" They can laugh, but I'm the one who is warm! I just put my gorgeous coat on, put the hood on and I can stay outside as long as I want. Everyone else is piling on scarves, woollens under their jackets and hats .....then still shivering. He he he........I'm the warm one!

I walk my dog when it's 40 below here in Minnesota. Normally I'd buy a Petite down coat but I bought the Regular size so it would cover my shins on the 40 below walks. It arrived today, I tried it on, it's perfect. To those who fear looking like a sleeping bag, forget about it. It's a great down coat for Northern Tier winters. And I love the color! It's great with my grey hair! LL Bean, I hope you never discontinue this coat! From a grateful Norwegian who walks Sven the Husky dog...

When they say mid-calf, they do not mean mid-calf on someone who is 5'5. This coat was as long as ankle pants on me. It seemed really nice otherwise. The petite would have been too short in the sleeves. I wish they made a coat in this line that came to just below the knee, but unfortunately the next shortest seems to hit mid-thigh.

Warm, light weight. Not as warm as I expected. I have a casual style very warm from LLBean that I have had for years which is much warmer, but not dressy enough for work. Like the length. Helps keep one warm in the bitter cold of Upstate NY. Washes well. Love the zip pockets, inside hidden zip pocket and inside velcro. Only problem is the zip is difficult at the bottom which could be due to the length of the coat and the angle at which you zip it. The dual zip (top & bottom) is great. I love the berry color. I bought the brown for a friend's daughter and she loves hers. Another friend bought the shorter length and likes it.

I had purchased this coat a few years back in the periwinkle color, and was amazed at how warm it kept me. I live in the Northeast, in a very windy and cold city, so a warm coat is necessary. The longer length also was important to me. When I had to replace a jacket, I purchased a 3/4 length as a replacement (in black) as I knew it would be very warm. I am 5'6", 162 lbs, and in coat sizes I always get an XL as I wear jackets and sweaters underneath - probably just me but I feel the cold very easily - perhaps an age thing, lol. The hood, zippered pockets and inside pockets are all great to have available. I have just purchased another of the longer coat length in black as I can depend on the quality and the periwinkle one will be a great backup.

I've been looking for a winter coat that kept me warm, but didn't leave me looking like a quarterback. This one fits the bill. It looks great and it is very warm. It's also lightweight and it's great for layering. It's done well for a cold NJ winter/early spring and a weekend trip to Northern Maine in February. The hood is great and it's nice that it can be removed; the "fur" can also be removed.

For years I've had a coat that looks exatly like this one, and it's seen me through many a New England winter. It's time is just about up, though, and when I saw this in the store, I knew we were meant for each other...until I was walking my dog in the wind along the river and I went to put my hands in the (almost) non-existent pockets. My hands went in not even up to my wrist, instead of several inches above, as I'd been used to. NOT GOOD. In a coat supposed to keep you warm you need DEEP POCKETS not shallow. Very disappointed in LL Bean in this one. The coat went right back and the old one will continue to serve until I find the right replacement.

I walk my dogs daily in all types of weather. This coat is fabulous because it is so long and warm. The hood is excellent for blocking wind, cold & snow.. As for style, I literally get compliments every week. I didn't purchase it for style, a previous reveiw commented that looked like wearing a down comforter, but total strangers have come up to me and asked me where I got this coat. It fits true to size and the zipper is very easy to use. This winter has been sooo long and I am so happy I have this coat.

I love the down. I love the colors, but I seriously looked like I was wearing a sleeping bag.
I am 5'7" and ordered a SM and all you could see was head and feet. I had to give it back. Sorry LLBean.
