Just got this vest a couple of weeks ago. It is in the 90's here now and it will be a couple of months before I can wear it. If it is like the regular goose down vest I got last year, the Baxter State Parka from now nearly 3 years ago, and boots, shirts, pants, gloves, hats, more or less a significant part of my clothes, (and I have no reason to doubt it won't), it will be excellent. By the way, the personal service at Mr. Bean is outstanding also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FarmerSheila couldn't live without mine...
I am a lady farmer living in the West of Ireland. This is a fabulous vest. Actually I have 2 vests and 1 jacket and I am ordering another jacket... They have saved me many times because our weather is very unpredictable and I allways have one in my jeep... I am 6; tall and wear 36" jeans, I ordered the men's xx-tall in both jacket and vests....and they fit but they might want to make an xxxl for someone who might have big shoulders....they wouldn't fit a large man.. But the zippers are brass and the pockets are great and the inside upper pocket is fab for the phone.. the workmanship is fantastic seams are taped and very very well made.

My husband LOVES this vest. Perfect for damp winter-spring days outdoors doing farm chores. Stylish enough for city wear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BeachGirlRI Runs Very Short
This runs a little small and VERY short. My boyfriend is 5'9 and the large was SUPER short. Had to return it. Otherwise, okay but not as nice as I hoped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TioTito Can't Wash this product
These are listed as non-washable; but, I bought the vest and the jacket anyway. They hung in my closet with all of my other winter clothes. After 1 year, the vest stinks while the jacket smells like it was just sold, and all other clothes are just fine. Can't wash these, but I can't run around smelling like bigfoot. Into the washer they went.
Required details: I wear an XL. These are sized generously to wear garments under them. My jacket is L to wear as an outer coat. My vest is XL to wear over other things. I decided to gamble on the "generous sizing".
I hung them out in the sun for 1 1/2 weeks before washing; still smells like daddy bigfoot. Put in warm water, using Woolite for a cleaner, soaked, squeezed out the air, then did a light wash. I hung them outside for 2 days after washing but would not dry. Now, into the dryer. The vest was dried on medium for 30 minutes. The dryer heat level was monitored since these might shrink. -- Don't doubt me, they do shrink -- however, since the vest sleeves are not an issue, and the jacket sleeves were made for a primate, instead of a person, some shrinkage would be good. The jacket shrank to a close fit around my little tummy, and the sleeves now look like me instead of a little monkey. But they didn't dry completely. They were dried for another 1 1/2 hours at low heat. They will now hang in the house and let the central heating finish any remaining water.
"My" takeaway, not yours, I will wash mine as needed, but dry very at very low heat. I think that the next cleaning will be at a cleaner to see if the fluid evaporates better than water.
LLBeans's takeaway would be, the vest stunk, so that started this mess; the jacket was just an innocent bystander. I have formed the opinion that no washing or cleaning policy is due to the waxed surface. In that case, the waxing materials needs some serious evaluation.
I also learned that the old saying, when you get down insulation wet and wear it, you will freeze to death. I now know that is true. How does a goose survive when wet? This is a good seller for the new plastic-coated feather technology.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ThomasF Impossible to clean
I previously bought the lighter color in this vest. Great, warm, comfortable vest. It got dirty after a while and I found it impossible to clean. Can't wash it. Can't dry clean it. Can't use any soap. One reviewer said the darker color did not show dirt as bad so I am trying it. Not hopeful. This waxed cotton looks great, for about a month. After that, it just looks like it needs to be washed, which you can't do. A garment that can't be cleaned is not very useful.
