This is a very nice vest. It's got some weight to it so check the specs if you're looking for something super lightweight.
As for the sizing, I am 5'8" and 175lbs. Though I normally order a medium in most clothing, for the second time with Bean products I ended up going with a small and it was again the correct choice. This vest fits fine even when wearing a warm hoodie underneath.
Overall, I real nice purchase. Quite pleased with it.

Rated 4 out of 5áby RMC116 Well Made & Functional
I have been very happy with this purchase. The vest is well-made, comfortable and looks good. I looked at several different brands of waxed-cotton down vests before settling on LL Bean, but found this one to be the best value. It's also close enough in color that I can wear it underneath my Barbour jacket. The zipper is not quite as heavy-duty, but the quality is very good for the price.

Excellent well built vest. Very warm and comfortable. I ordered a large and it fits me to a T. I am 5' 8" 173 Lbs.with a 36 waist. Pockets are nice and roomy and warm. Zipper is of great quality and easy to use. I like the inner vest pocket on the left side, great for a small caliber concealed carry. I haven't warn it in the rain yet but I'm sure it will repel the rain nicely. This vest is well worth the money. I'm happy I bought it, I will be wearing a lot around town. I highly recommend this vest to anyone, man or women. The outer part of the vest is rugged and will wear a long time.

The quality of materials and finesse of the workmanship are always the expected level of quality for LL Bean products but this vest is even a step beyond the perfect typical product. Fits,.....like a loose glove (as it should). Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5áby jkgonzo187 Warm & Lightweight
This is my favorite down vest out of five prominent ones I researched online. It isn't too puffy but still super warm and very lightweight. It has already battled plenty of rain and snow with no problem. I got it in "Loden" and it looks outdoorsy but sharp. Only downside would be that it's not washable.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Sundance204 Good Quality, Little Baggy
The quality of this vest is up to par with LL Bean standards. The seams are strong, the material seems tough and it is warm, even for Canadian standards. There is a loop around the zipper which means I can use it with gloves on and both zipper and snaps seem rugged. Good pockets and soft lining. The drawstring ties are made of plastic, but seem good enough.
The one issue I had was finding a proper size. I bought a large due to my height (6'1") but had to take it to the tailor who took 4" off the midsection. I measure 36" around the midsection (just above hips) so this vest (L) might better fit someone who is in the 39-40" range.

Bought for my Army-guy son for Christmas - very pleased with the weight and quality of the vest. Warm, nicely tailored without being too preppy. Fit seems to run true (he is wearing over flannel or cotton button down given his climate.) Good value for the money. Up to my Bean expectations!

You can feel the quality when you slide this vest on. The waxed canvas is rugged, but comfortable. Pockets are gentle on the hands with a soft lining. The zipper is a bit clunky at first, but gets easier as its used more. Very warm. A bit more generous in the waist than I'd prefer, but probably good for many guys.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Hankdog Great Value...you won't be disappointed
I have been wearing down vests since the mid-'70's so it's a big deal for me to say this is the best vest I have had the pleasure to own, and I have had many. The fabric exudes quality and there are several nice touches, like a snap loop on the front pockets to make them easy to secure with two fingers. The zipper starts easily and has a nice brass ring to make zipping up or down a breeze. The jacket is nearly completely wind and water proof and is not too bulky like traditional down vests. It's also not too wimpy like the new 'layering vests'. Also the collar stands up great and is lined with a moleskin type of fabric that is really comfortable on your chin and neck. Ditto with the fabric in the hand warmer pockets. Oh well, that's enough ...buy it ...you won't regret it.

I reviewed this vest in August just after I bought it. Predicted it would be excellent, and as predicted...It Is exactly that. I virtually live in it after work and on the weekends now. Wore it birding at a local lake where the temp was in the lower 40"s with a 15 mph wind. Had a polo and sweater on under it and stayed very warm. One thing good is that in that temp range your upper arms do not get too warm as they would in a goosedown coat.
I am aware of the lint problem since it is waxed cotton. A lint roller solves that problem in a few seconds.
I am convinced that there are people that write reviews that would not be happy even if you gave them the keys to Fort Knox. This vest works extremely well and should be worth a good try for almost anyone. Bottom line, it comes from Mr. Bean.
