Rated 5 out of 5 by AnnapolisFeedback GREAT Socks
After trying out a couple pairs of the grey ones last year, and loving them, once they went on sale I got a couple pairs of more colors and was not disappointed. I was worried based on the mixed reviews, but there has been no shearing of the heel or separation of the toe.
I'm a boot size 9 and shoe size 10 and went with the Mediums, and they fit like they were custom made. They're great, non-itchy miracle wool of some sort, and they don't sag/bag up after long walks/hikes. They're thin enough to wear with regular shoes, and so these are now my go-to socks in the winter for grad school classes or work (where I'm on my feet for ~10-hour shifts).
If I had a complaint, I would say that they could be a little taller - they're a little short for crew socks but not so bad that it would deter me from buying replacement pairs.

Sized right. Best regular and heavy duty wool sock I've found.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SamGamgee Nice, but sized small
These socks feel great, and so far they feel well constructed. I've enjoyed wearing these since I received them and they are a decent lightweight wool sock. It has been in the 40s and 50s with some breeze where I live, and these have kept my feet feeling great.
My only concern is that these are a bit small. The size chart indicates that these will fit up to a size 15 foot, but I disagree. I wear between a size 14 and 15 shoe and these are a little too small for size 15 feet as the curve of the heel in the sock doesn't meet the curve of my own heel. I would recommend stopping at a size 13/14 instead of 14/15 for these.
That being said, I would still recommend these for people that do fall into the more average sized apparel. They wear well, and feel good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Danyboy Socks develop "pills"
I have these in three colors and in both lightweight and midweight. They are extremely comfortable so I wear them most every day whether I am hiking/walking or not. As a hiking sock I don't believe they are markedly better than plan old white athletic socks but for sitting around the house or just everyday activities they have a luxurious feel to them. I have noted that they tend to develop "pills" after a few washings but I have similiar problems with other hiking socks. They seem a bit pricy but its one luxury I afford myself.

The search is over! These are the best socks! I've been on a mission for years to find socks that my husband would be happy with. "Too tight, too big, too thick, uncomfortable, make my feet sweat" - you name it, he had a complaint for every kind I bought him. My mother recommended I buy him the lightweight Cresta hiking socks. Well, after he wore both pairs, he asked me if I could wash them so he could wear them the next day. And, we've both noticed his feet don't sweat or have an odor anymore. He says they are just the right weight/thickness and very comfortable. Bought him 8 more pairs so now he has 10 pairs! Was going to wait and buy them for Christmas but didn't dare to wait because I was afraid this would be one of the items Bean's sells out of. I hope they keep carrying these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Thoreauly unacceptable, cord-like bunching
I love everything about these socks except for one serious problem. The banded construction, with thicker material at the toe and thinner material in the middle of the foot, causes a bunching line across the sole of my foot just behind the ball. It feels like walking with a cord lying across the insole, as annoying and even painful as a stone in one's shoe.
I can make it go away by pulling everything tight, so the heel rides up behind my ankle, but I dislike the tight feeling and the ugly look. So I returned them.
feet: 26.5 cm, shoes: 10-1/2, Cresta sock size: large

Rated 1 out of 5 by dnarex These aren't socks
I just received my order and what I received aren't what I call socks. At best they are socklets. They barely cover my ankles. I don't know what Bean was thinking when they sent me these. They are going back.

Made in America ! There was a small card included in the bag along with the outside label. Made me Smile!
They arrived last week and I put them to work after a run through the washer. I wear a ladies size 10.5 B (Mens 9 ) so I purchased the Med sock. The fit is fine and would even fit a little longer foot.
They are comfy in my hiking boots (LL Bean low rise trail hikers / and LOWA low-rise hikers) I have worn them with deck shoes also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WesternMEHFT Hold up very well after many uses
A lot of wool socks seem to lose elasticity after being washed and worn a few times. Not these. They are holding up very well and I use my wool socks as slippers most of the time so they get direct floor wear with each use. Highly recommended.

I bought more of these men's light-weight cresta hiking socks as a gift for someone. I have 4 pair which I bought in 2012. They have at least 1200 hiking miles and 6 months of pick and shovel work on them. I'm still wearing them and they have no holes and still work great. These socks wick moisture from feet better than any sock I've owned and are very comfortable and are warm enough for shoulder seasons. Would highly recommend as a great 3 season hiking sock. My favorite.
