Background

At L.L.Bean, we get our Pima cotton from the places it grows best: the Southwestern U.S. and Peru. This superior quality, long-staple cotton is named for the Pima Indians who helped to raise it in Arizona test fields in the early 1900s. Its longer length is what makes Pima cotton softer, smoother and stronger than other cotton fibers. It is carefully harvested for fewer imperfections in the yarn, allowing us to create a finer finished garment – and bedding that makes sleeping luxurious.
