For Every Action There's a Fleece to Match

What would you say if we told you there's actually a fabric that can take you from walking the sidelines at your kid's soccer game to scaling Mount Washington? You know it as fleece, but you may not know there are as many incarnations of fleece as there are activities on your to-do list. It breathes. It stretches. It's so soft you'll want to curl up in it, yet so durable it looks great season after season.

Guide to L.L.Bean Fleece

Lightweight  –  a light layer of warmth

Polartec® 100:
Looking for the ideal single layer? This one offers soft, next-to-skin comfort. Highly breathable and quick drying, wear it for hard exercise or just a touch of warmth. Resists odor-causing bacteria.

Powerstretch:
This light, four-way stretch fleece is engineered for active sports. A smooth finish on the outside resists pilling and abrasion, and a close, comfortable fit makes it perfect for layering.

  Comfort Fleece:
For casual, everyday wear. Plush and cozy next to the skin. Knit from 96% polyester with a touch of spandex for stretch comfort. Warm 8.5 oz. weight.

Midweight  –  your anywhere fleece

Trail Model 200:
Easy-care, highly breathable and specifically designed to resist moisture, our Trail Model makes an excellent cold-weather layer over a shirt or under a ski parka.

Polartec Super 200:
The more densely knit of midweight fleeces, this Polartec excels at transferring perspiration so you stay dry as the trail gets tougher.

Polartec BiPolar 200:
The BiPolar offers two distinct advantages: the smooth outer surface sheds snow and water, and the inner shearling surface holds heat for exceptional warmth without adding weight.

Heavyweight  –  our warmest fleece

Mountain Pile:
Talk about plush – just dig your fingers into this extra-warm, extra-thick fleece. It's a dense, nappy knit with a 300-weight shearling finish to trap more of your body's heat.

Polartec BiPolar 300:
This thicker version of the BiPolar fabric increases your wind and water resistance. The outer layer sheds the weather while the inner layer allows perspiration to pass through, keeping you warm and dry.

Specialty Fleece  –  extra weather protection

Polartec Windbloc®:
Double-up with a windproof and water-resistant barrier sandwiched between two layers of Polartec 100 fleece. The surface not only repels rain and snow but eliminates the need for a windbreaker.

Super Windbloc®-ACT:
Air Control Technology (ACT) creates a light, windproof membrane between layers of breathable 100-weight fleece and moisture-wicking mesh. A Teflon® coating ensures moisture and stain resistance.
