Outdoorsman in a Bottle

Dear Valued Customer,

Our records show that you have purchased or received our Outdoorsman in a Bottle gift item (#BLJ2), which includes a Forever Flashlight that has a powerful magnet as its power source. WARNING: THE FLASHLIGHT'S STRONG MAGNETIC FIELD COULD DISRUPT A CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATOR, A PACEMAKER OR OTHER MEDICAL DEVICE. The magnet could also damage a laptop's hard drive, your CDs or other items with digital memory recordings.

ADDITIONALLY, FOR YOUR SAFETY, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE COMPASS. It has come to our attention that the compass might not reliably point north because it has been adversely affected by the powerful magnet in the Forever Flashlight. A faulty compass could steer the user away from an intended destination with potential for a harmful accident or injury. Although no incidents or injuries have been reported to date, L.L.Bean is voluntarily working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to recall the compasses.

We have enclosed a replacement compass and ask that you destroy the original. If the item is to be repackaged and given as a gift, we recommend that the new compass be physically separated from the flashlight by the other items in the Outdoorsman in a Bottle to protect the polarity of the compass.
