The park offers great perches from which to view the scenic Mississippi River.

The Mississippi palisades skirt the Mississippi River.

This 2,500-acre state park preserves palisades, or high cliffs, along the Mississippi River.

The park has 14 miles of hiking trails — some are challenging. In winter, cross-country skiers use about six miles of the trails.

The campground has 240 sites, of which 106 have electrical hook-ups.

In the Mississippi, fishermen try for catfish, bluegill, small and largemouth bass, crappie, northern pike and walleye. A marina and boat rental business is nearby.

There are several prairie grass preserves within the park.

Rock climbers ascend Twin Sisters Rock and Sentinel Rock.

Several scenic overlooks are accessible by wheelchair.
