Hiking in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

Riding the Dunes!

The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area spans 40 coastline miles from Florence to North Bend. Visitors can explore the 31,500 acres on hiking trails, by off-road vehicle, on horseback or by car or boat.

Travelers on tight schedules can view the dunes, tree islands, and ocean from the Oregon Dunes day use area, located midway between Florence and Reedsport.

Those who take time to depart from Highway 101, the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, will find several recreational activities. Beach access, wildlife viewing sites, trailheads, campgrounds, and off-highway vehicle riding areas await the explorer.

A stop at the Oregon Dunes Visitor Center, located in Reedsport, includes natural and cultural history exhibits, area information and a chance to preview the dunes through a video presentation.

The Oregon Coast Bike Route follows paved roads through this recreation area.

A parking fee is charged to those who park in day-use areas.
