Costumed guides re-enact life on the Florida frontier at Lake Kissimmee State Park. Lake Kissimmee was once in the heart of Florida's cattle country. The 5,930 acres of Lake Kissimmee State Park are teeming with plant and animal life. The park offers outstanding fishing, bird watching, picnicking, camping, boating and hiking on 13 miles of beautiful trails. South central Florida was once the heart of Florida's cattle country, and the life of the early cow herders is re-enacted at Lake Kissimmee State Park's living history demonstration of a 1876 cow camp. The park abuts three lakes, Kissimmee, Tiger and Rosalie, and has outstanding opportunities for fishing, birdwatching and boating. All 60 campsites have water and electricity. Visitors can view white-tailed deer, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, turkeys and bobcats. Lake Kissimmee State Park is located off S.R. 60, 15 miles east of Lake Wales.
