A floating convenience store serves boaters at Angostura Recreation Area, located on the shores of a 5,000-acre reservoir.

The warm mineral springs near Angostura have attracted visitors seeking health-restoring waters for 10,000 years.

Today, the cool waters of Angostura Reservoir draw people interested in boating, fishing and swimming.

Angostura State Recreation Area sits on the shores of the 5,000-acre man-made lake, which has a strong fishery, 36 miles of shoreline and fine sandy beaches.

The lake is known for good walleye, smallmouth bass and crappie fishing. It also supports northern pike, laremouth bass, perch and bluegill. The park offers access to the water with four boat ramps and canoe or kayak rentals. Fishing tackle and bait can be purchased at its floating convenience store.

Other park facilities include four modern campgrounds, cabins and a 78-slip marina. Nearby attractions include Wind Cave National Park, with more than 50 miles of mapped cave passages, the Mammoth Site, a national landmark with the remains of several mammoths, and Evans Plunge, a natural warm-water swimming pool.
