One of Flatbrook-Roy's popular trout streams.

In western Sussex County, about six miles west of Branchville, is the home of two of New Jersey's best-known trout streams.

The Flatbrook-Roy Wildlife Management Area contains 2,081 acres of field and upland. In addition to top-notch trout fishing in Big Flat and Little Flat brooks, which are stocked in spring and fall, the site offers great birdwatching and cross-country skiing.

In upland areas, rabbits, pheasants, grouse, deer and woodchucks are the principal species. The area also contains outstanding wild turkey habitat. During fall migration, wood and black ducks and mallards turn up here.
