Swimming at Burt Lake.

Boaters on Burt Lake, in the heart of Michigan's Inland Waterway, can travel a 38-mile chain of lakes and rivers from Crooked Lake to Lake Huron.

The state park sits on the southeast corner of the lake and has 2,000 feet of sandy shoreline. The Sturgeon River, enjoyed by paddleMichigan Mrs, forms the park's northeast border.

Swimmers enjoy the beaches and anglers fish for walleye, trout, bass, bluegill, perch and pike from the lake. On-shore activities include hiking on a one-mile trail that skirts the Sturgeon River.

Park facilities include 306 campsites and one wheelchair-accessible mini-cabin, which is available in summer.

Nearby is the Pigeon River State Forest, known for its elk herd.
