Connetquot River State Park Preserve on Long Island preserves 3,473 acres of forest. The preserve, a former hunting and fishing lodge dating back to the 1800s, was purchased by the state in 1973.

It has 50 miles of hiking, horseback riding, cross-country ski and nature trails. Many are wheelchair-accessible. The preserve is also home to a trout hatchery and outstanding rainbow, brook and brown trout streams.

The preserve has wheelchair-accessible fly-fishing sites that are available by reservation only.

Resident and migratory wildlife includes osprey, raptors, egrets, herons and many species of waterfowl.

From western Long Island, take the Southern State Parkway east to exit 44 (Sunrise Highway), east to the preserve.

From eastern Long Island, take Sunrise Highway west to Oakdale. The preserve is located on the north side of Sunrise Highway, just west of Pond Road.
