Greenbrier State Park, covering 1,288 acres in hilly Washington County, offers a broad spectrum of recreational activities. The park's centerpiece is 42-acre Greenbrier Lake, a man-made lake with a beach. The lake is stocked with trout, and anglers also pull in bluegill and bass. No gas motors are allowed on the lake. A concessionaire rents rowboats and paddleboats. Eight trails for hikers and mountain bikers total about 11 miles and are suited to a variety of ability levels. Trails are also open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers in winter. The park's 165 campsites, open from April through October, include 41 sites with electrical hook-up. There is also a visitor center and a seasonal park store that offers snacks, drinks, and camping and picnicking supplies. A vehicle entry fee is charged from October to May, and a per person entry fee is charged during summer. Photo credits in order: Courtesy of Greenbrier State Park. Courtesy of Greenbrier State Park. |
