Located on Pine Mountain, this 10,000-acre park is deeply rooted in the historical era of four-time President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Seeking a place for treatment after he was stricken with polio in 1921, Roosevelt traveled to nearby Warm Springs, where he built The Little White House. State park visitors enjoy hiking and backpacking on the 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail, fishing and boating on two lakes, camping, picnicking, swimming and horseback riding. Facilities include 140 tent and trailer sites, 22 cabins, a swimming pool, trading post and nature trails. Photo credits in order: Courtesy of Georgia Department of Natural Resources. |
