A naturalist leads outdoor programs at Table Rock Mountain year-round. Table Rock Mountain rises placidly from the clear water of Pinnacle Lake. To the Cherokee Native Americans, the mountains of Table Rock State Park were "Sah-ka-na-ga," the great blue hills of God. The level pinnacle of Table Rock was the perfect place for the Great Spirit to dine. This 3,000-acre park still feeds the soul, refreshing visitors with lovely, wooded foot trails, a clear mountain lake, waterfalls and mountains. Historic stone and log structures built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps give the park an old fashioned feeling. A network of trails leads to and between Table Rock and Pinnacle Mountain. The wooded paths pass many small waterfalls and connect to the Foothills Trail, popular with backpackers. Two lakes provide excellent fishing, with stocks of bream, bass and catfish. The waters also are popular with canoeists. There are 14 cabins with fireplaces and a 94-site campground with full amenities. There is also a 25-site area used for groups. Reservations may be made for all sites.
