Home to Mount Everest and several other famous peaks, this park features incredible mountains, deep gorges and amazing bird and animal life.

Sagarmatha National Park, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site, covers 480 square miles in the Khumbu region of Nepal.

In addition to Everest, other peaks are Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Thamerku, Kwangde, Kangtaiga and Gyachyung Kang.

Trekking is the most common way to reach the Sagarmatha, which is about two days on foot from Lukla. Lodging in the park includes resort hotels, lodges and camping.

The wild animals most likely to be seen in the park are the Himalayan tahr, goral, serow, musk deer and Himalayan black bear.

You may also see mammals such as weasels, martens, Himalayan mouse hare (pika) and jackals. The park provides habitat for at least 118 species of birds.

Elevation ranges from 9,388 to 29,198 feet.
