Relax in Grundy Lake Provincial Park.

This park is covered with a network of small sparkling lakes and majestic forests of coniferous and broad-leafed trees.

It is close to the northern limits of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence lowlands forest region, where red and white pine and maple and yellow birch trees predominate. These are mixed with other species more common in the northern boreal forest region, including white birch, poplar and jack pine.

Deer and moose are common in the park area, and smaller mammals such as muskrat, raccoon, mink, fox and beaver can often be spotted.

More than 160 species of birds have been identified near Grundy Lake, especially in the marsh areas. Heron nests are found in at least two areas of the park close to the campgrounds.

The park is a major destination for campers, with 460 campsites in nine campgrounds close to several different lakes. Each site has a picnic table and fireplace, and is convenient to vault toilets and drinking water.

The park offers good swimming and fishing, and has three well-marked trails for hiking and nature walks. Canoeists enjoy the extensive network of interconnecting waterways both inside and outside the park.

It's possible to retrace the journeys of fur-trading voyageurs, who were among the first Europeans to explore the area. Maps of canoe routes are available from the park office.

Power boats are prohibited in the park.
