Stenshuvud National Park

Stenshuvud Mountain rises 318 feet above the sea. From its crest, the varied landscape of Stenshuvud National Park is visible.

Forests, heaths and dry meadows give way to sand flats and beaches. The mountain has been a landmark for seafarers for generations, and was once regarded as the home of giants and trolls.

Several ancient monuments can also be found in the park, including the remains of a 5th century fort around the mountain.

The warm climate contributes to a variety of ecological habitats. The broad-leaf forest of the mountain features a stunning variety of wildflowers in spring. The woodland is ideal habitat for nightingales, and their song is sometimes incredibly intense.

A diversity of small mammals also lives in the park, including the dormouse, the park mascot.

The park has a visitor’s center with information on the nature and history of the area. A well-maintained series of trails lead around the park and up the mountain.
