Abisko National Park, in Northern Lapland, is one of the sunniest places in Sweden in summer.

Arctic light showcases a valley between mountain ranges and Torneträsk Lake. The Abiskojokk River, which runs through the entire park, passes through a canyon 66 feet deep near its mouth.

Some of the rarest plants found in Sweden's mountain regions grow in Abisko, due to the lime-enriched soil. The best-known flower is the rare Lapp orchid, which grows only in the park.

The park is also home to a variety of wildlife. Many small birds like the rare arctic warbler are found there, and common mammals include martens, stouts, lemmings and elk.

The park offers many ways to enjoy nature. An aerial cable car to the top of Mount Njulla offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Sweden's national hiking trail, Kungsleden, begins in Abisko.

Hiking and skiing trails in the park extend 2,703 miles. The Abisko Naturum Center offers guided trips of the park.
