The mountainous 59-square-mile Monts-Valin Park is tucked in the heart of the Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean region.
Located 12 miles north of Chicoutimi, the park (Parc des Monts-Valin) is home to several peaks that rise above 2,970 feet, offering spectacular views of the region.
In winter, snow blankets the area forests, valleys and Mont-Valin range and the summertime hiking trails becoming back-country ski trails.
In addition to high summits, the Sainte-Marguerite River canyon offers a beautiful landscape.
The park is open year-round, but there are limited services during late October to November and from April to May.
Activities include camping, canoeing, wildlife watching, fishing and hiking. In winter, outdoor enthusiasts try cross-country skiing, winter camping and snowshoeing.
The main entrance is along Saint-Fulgence by Saint-Louis Road.
Secondary entrances include Riviere Saint-Louis in the west sector, via Saint-David-de-Falardeau and forest road L-216, and Riviere Sainte-Marguerite along the east sector, by Hwy. 172, east of Saint-Fulgence, then forest road L-200.
