Hikers enjoy the view from Mount Stanford.

Terra Nova National Park's forested hills are indented by numerous fiords. This combination of forest and marine environments gives the park its unique character.

Boreal forests, barrens and bogs are home to moose, lynx and black bear.

Interpretive boat tours of Newman Sound offer opportunities to view bald eagles, whales, icergs, and marine life. The sheltered waters generally allow for calm seas and smooth passage in an area rich with wildlife and scenic beauty.

Bald eagles, osprey, greater yellowlegs, black ducks and many more birds feed in the shallow waters of Newman Sound Estuary.

The exhibit overlooking the sound provides a glimpse into the lives of the creatures that make their home in the rich water of the estuary.

The park is located along the Trans-Canada Highway. Vantage points on coastal headlands can be reached by car. Tours, programs and displays explore and detail the park's natural and cultural heritage.

Park facilities include 80 miles of hiking trails, several picnic areas with playgrounds, wheelchair-accessiblity, a Visitor Information Marine Center that features marine exhibits, aquariums and a touch tank, two campgrounds, seven primitive campsites, outdoor theater, guided boat and sea kayaking tours, and an activity center for children.

Other activities include primitive camping, family camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, golfing, biking, picnicking, and swimming.

In winter, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and winter camping are available.
