The Harrison Crawford State Forest and O'Bannon Woods State Park offers an enticing combination of trails, caves and campgrounds. Hikers and horseback riders enjoy miles of trails ranging from moderate to rugged. The park and forest also offers access to the Adventure Trail, a 27-mile footpath with shelters and sites for backpackers. Twelve shorter hiking trails weave through the park. The horse trail system includes 80 miles of marked loop trails. The trails pass natural bluffs overlooking the Ohio and Blue rivers and Indian Creek, as well as caves and sinkholes. The diversity and density of native wildlife and vegetation all enhance a trail ride. There are 281 campsites with electricity as well as the Stagestop Campground, which offers 32 primitive sites and youth camping. A canoe access ramp is available at the Stagestop Campground. An equestrian campground and a group camp (max: 100), are also available. Photo credits in order: Courtesy of Indiana State Parks and Reservoirs. |
