The Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge was established to protect and restore threatened and endangered fish and plants. The refuge provides habitat for the Ash Meadows pupfish, Warm Springs pupfish, Devil's Hole pupfish and Ash Meadows speckled dace as well as waterfowl, resident and migratory springbirds, raptors and an assortment of mammals. The refuge manages 23,000 acres of alkaline Mohave desert interspersed with several free-flowing natural springs, outflow channels and wetland habitat. The Crystal Springs boardwalk is wheelchair-accessible. Contact the refuge for information about hunting opportunities.
