Camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, skiing, mountain biking and enjoying scenic drives are popular activities in the Arapaho National Forest. The Continental Divide and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains form the backbone of the forest. Along their flanks are high plateaus, rolling foothills and open stretches of high prairie. More than 400 species of wildlife inhabit the forest. The reservoirs and lakes of the Arapaho National Recreation Area and Grand Lake, the largest natural lake in Colorado, are excellent for boating, camping and fishing. The Forest Service also jointly administers the Roosevelt National Forest and the Pawnee National Grassland. Photo credits in order: Courtesy of USDA Forest Service. |
