A park ranger interprets the local ecology for schoolchildren.

Ostrich ferns provide luxuriant undergrowth in Icelandic Park's Nature Preserve.

Located on the north shore of Lake Renwick, Icelandic State Park offers swimming, boating and fishing for northern pike and other game fish.

Picnic areas, shaded by old oak trees, skirt the banks of 220-acre Lake Renwick.

North Dakota's homesteading heritage is chronicled at the Gunlogson Homestead and Nature Preserve, which is situated within the park.

A visitor center and restored historic buildings provide a glimpse into the state's past, while the 200-acre natural wooded area provides sanctuary for plants, birds and wildlife.

The park is open for camping year-round.

Icelandic State Park is located five miles west of Cavalier, on Hwy. 5, near the U.S.-Canadian border.
