Franconia Notch State Park

Franconia Notch is the flagship of New Hampshire's state parks. The 6,440-acre park, set between the towering Franconia and Kinsman ranges, is visited by more than 2 million people each year.

The Flume Gorge and an 80-passenger aerial tramway that ascends 4,180-foot Cannon Mountain. The tramway operates year-round and during the winter is one of nine ski lifts and 55 trails at the Cannon Mountain ski area, located entirely within the park.

Many visitors view the natural and cultural history along the parkway from the numerous wayside areas.

Recreational opportunities abound. There are 97 campsites at Lafayette Campground. Cyclists have an 8.8-mile paved trail starting at the Flume at the south end of the park and ending at Skoocumchuck parking area at the north end, off Route 3. Hikers have the run of the park and easy access to the Appalachian Trail.

The park has three lakes: Echo, Profile and Lonesome. Echo Lake offers swimming, fishing, canoeing and picnicking.
