Partners in Conservation
L.L.Bean's commitment to the environment is stronger today than ever. We actively support nonprofit organizations that strive to preserve wilderness recreation areas, foster outdoor recreation, protect wildlife habitats and further conservation education. In the Mid-Atlantic region we have the pleasure of working closely with two such organizations.
Izaak Walton League, Front Royal, Virginia
Our Mid-Atlantic fly-fishing schools will take place at the beautiful Izaak Walton League, Warren County Chapter, in Front Royal, Virginia. Founded in 1922 as a national organization of hunters, anglers and other conservation-minded outdoor enthusiasts, the league works through volunteer, community-based action and education "to save outdoor America for future generations." It was named for 17th-century English angler-philosopher Izaak Walton, who wrote The Complete Angler. To become a Warren county member of IWLA, call 540-636-3666, or to find a chapter near you, please visit www.iwla.org.
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Annapolis, Maryland
Our home base for our Mid-Atlantic sea-kayaking workshops is the new environmentally acclaimed headquarters of Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), situated on the Bay in Annapolis, Maryland. CBF's Merrill center makes a great home base because of its fantastic location and its use of green building practices like geothermic walls to reduce impact on the environment. For more than 30 years CBF, a nonprofit, member-supported organization, has worked to restore and maintain the health of the Chesapeake. To learn more about CBF call 1-888-SAVEBAY, or visit their Web site at www.cbf.org.
