Kayak Touring Essentials V: Surf Zone

A private lesson that focuses on essential skills for avid kayakers. Whether you take frequent day trips on the open water or are preparing for an extended expedition, this lesson provides practical experience so you can travel more efficiently and confidently. You'll get individualized instruction with plenty of on-water practice time. This lesson can be one-on-one with an instructor or enroll your group.

Itinerary
Starting at our Paddling Center in Freeport, you and your instructor will load the gear and travel to the beach. After a safety discussion and wet exit review, you'll be introduced to key surf zone strokes and learn how to read and time waves. During your practice paddling, you'll work on launching and landing in a beachfront surf zone. You'll also learn bracing and maneuvering techniques.
