Fly-Fishing Essentials IV: Striper Fishing Course

One-day course covers the basics of saltwater fly fishing
Practice casting techniques, including shooting head lines and the double haul

Spend the afternoon on a guided striper fishing excursion

Learn the skills needed to enjoy the exciting sport of striper fishing—skills that will also prepare you to fish for other saltwater game fish such as bonefish, tarpon, and redfish. There's no better classroom than Maine's southern coast. Large schools of striped bass cruise our coastal waters from May to October. This annual migration makes Maine one of the most popular destinations for striper fishing on the East Coast. The natural surroundings are as impressive as the fishing. Your afternoon classroom will be spent at a scenic beach in Scarborough.

Itinerary
The morning will be spent out on a casting lawn where you'll learn about double-hauling, how to cast shooting-head lines, hook-setting and fish fighting. Casting instructions will cover the basics of casting big rods and flies. With this foundation, you and your instructors will head to Scarborough, Maine for lunch at the historic Black Point Inn, perched on a scenic peninsula framed by Ferry Beach and Scarborough Beach. Then, it's down to the beach for a full afternoon of guided fishing.

Prerequisite: Some fly-fishing experience.
