Rated 4 out of 5 by Floodedtimber Big foot can be a tight squeeze
Very pleased
Comfort level is high
wearing with mid weight sock is a must
Issue: only 1. The opening into which you place the foot is tight. Perhaps it's because I didn't opt for the E width.
Other than that I am enjoying my very first pair of Bean boots and at 50 yrs of age I may never wear them out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by KP12 Decent Boot
I read all of the reviews on this site before purchasing and was most focused on sizing opinions. So here's my sizing feedback. I wear a size 11 and was skeptical of sizing down a whole size to 10, but I did and still have plenty of room in the shoe for thick socks. I don't find the shoe hard to put on and take off, but then again I have an athletic foot, not a big fat foot. I do have an issue with the quality, which is why I'm only giving 3 stars. Upon just one short use, the hand stitching at the top of one shoe has started to unravel. If it continues I will need to return them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Hudsong Factory Seconds?
I find it strange that the boots that are 'signature collection' are lower quality than boots I've seen that are from the normal, less expensive collection. The boots I received have uneven cuts on the canvas uppers to the point where the canvas is either overhanging the rubber or too far up, asymmetrically on both shoes. The glue on the canvas is sticky as it's exposed due to the uneven alignment, and it comes off on my hands when I touch it. I've never had shoes like this before, much less $119 shoes. It's as if these shoes were factory seconds that they decided to ship out anyway. I would return them for a better pair if I didn't have to worry about going to the post office and then waiting for another pair in the mail. If Bean would ship me another pair first I'd gladly return these.. I don't even think they'll last one winter.

I have used this boot countless times for hiking. It is holding up very well. And I love the waxed canvas - a nice retro look. And it is made in the USA -big plus!
PS, they do run a big large, I used a second insole - until winter, when I will wear heavy socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MusketBall A classic boot made even better!
Since it was time to finally retire the 'standard issue' leather upper Maine Hunting Shoes (after 17 years of snow and damp weather wear), I was finally ready to spring for a new pair. Having been a fan of waxed canvas gear for a number of years, I was thrilled to find LL Bean offering the Maine Hunting Shoe done in this manner. The waxed canvas upper *gives* a bit more than the traditional leather and I'm sure the overall weight is reduced as well. They are a bit snug getting on, but since thin socks are my standard this is negligible and once into the foot bed, the fit is impeccable. Craftsmanship is superb, quality is outstanding and they look great. I hope LL Bean continues to offer these in waxed canvas!

The shoes are good. The solid rubber soul and waxed canvas do well in water. I waxed the seam which helps waterproof them. As well leather laces look better than the brown. They came in less than 3 days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WilliamInNashville So far...'A' rating!
Yes....a bit tight to get the heel in, but a little tug on the leather loop...slipped my foot (w/ a moderately heavy sock) right in. I'm usually an 8.5 in dress a dress shoe; ordered the 8 with some reservations - but are dead on in sizing! No break in, they look great and very reasonably priced! That adds up to a 5-star value!
(And thanks guys for beating your expected backorder date - - - by 2 months!)

Rated 3 out of 5 by TJDC Sharp Looking, But Not Great
I really like the way these look and think they'd make a great winter shoe (haven't had a winter this year, so can't say for sure). Unfortunately, it took two tries to get the correct size. I normally wear a size ten, so I followed the site's advice and purchased a 9. I am sure the footbed would have been a decent fit, but I could not get my foot past the upper to find out. They just did not give enough. I then returned them for a ten. The ten is slightly too large (good for socks), but I can fit my (I thought) normal width/normal arch size 10 foot through the unlaced upper and into the boot.
Unfortunately, in trying to contort my foot and pull the boot on the first day I had the shoes, the leather loop failed. It appears the stitch and glue holding the leather to the boot and canvas upper was insufficient for the application. I haven't tried to exchange the boots yet (the local store is our of my size in the tan), and I may try to stitch/glue it back together myself.
It's a shame that I've had these troubles, since these are really nice looking shoes, would function great, and are a great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by PrairieProfessor Great boot that I have to struggle to put on...
I love the boots. I reserved my rating back from five stars because the opening of the boot is somewhat narrow...
I ordered the same size I have two other pairs of Bean boots, I have a short Moc and taller leather pair, and all three fit perfectly around my feet once I have them on.
I really have to pull on the strap at the back to get them up over my heel. Hoping the leather and canvas will stretch a bit over time.
I love the looks and feel of them though especially for springtime right now. Rugged, simple, classic.

Like all of the LL Bean hunting boots I have owned over the years I wear the same size in it as I do my dress shoes. I altered size based on warnings and ended up sending the pair back to get my normal size.
Nice Shoe overall
