Besides for being back ordered for two months- very unlike LL Bean, my husband is absolutely in love with his bag and can't take his hands off of it. He is constantly examining it and always finds detail he failed to realize initially. It's a great quality bag and the perfect size for a weekend getaway. Highly recommend this product.

Nice bag but smaller than the 25" described. It actually measures 23" at both the leather bottom and the zippered top. The next size up is huge compared to the medium and probably wouldn't fit in the overhead bin when full. Also, the handles are further in than the older version, which means it isn't as wide for loading.

I always get compliments on this bag from people. It looks great and is a perfect size for the gym. It suffers from poor construction in one area, however. The clasps that attach the shoulder strap to the bag stretch out after a few months so that they no longer close. That means the shoulder strap constantly falls off! This is the second version of the same bag it has happened to and the only recourse is the return the entire bag.

A bit on the pricey side, but great, well made bag. Plenty of room for an extended weekend, but still counts as a carry on. The leather bottom really helps it keep its shape. My only complaint is that when full, the strap is very uncomfortable. It could be greatly improved with a strap cushion.

Let me start off by saying that I recommend the bag. The exterior comes with knicks and scratches in it so it starts out with a worn look, which has a nice look to it. The color comes out a little richer than the website portays, but in a good way for sure. The strap is comfortable and the bag is very easy to carry (someone had said it sank in the middle, but I haven't had any problems with that). The only thing that bothers me so far is that the bag's opening has a tendency to close itself, which is good I suppose, but annoying when you're trying to pack. The bag is a very nice size, but just be aware that it's not too wide. If you fold a shirt like they do in clothing stores it can only fit two shirts, long ways. I would personally consider the bag a small, myself.
All the same, it's very stylish, comfortable and convenient! A little pricey, but LLBean backs it up with guarantee, so it's worth it to me.

I gave a 4-star review because the duffle is still new and I haven't spent years with it yet. I am a road warrior and needed to replace an old duffle. I chose this one because I was in the store and able to handle the bag. It's well made and feels durable. The canvas is thick and the leather bottom will help protect the inside. Based on my use so far, plus the construction and the LLBean reputation, I recommend this duffle.

This duffel was purchased to replace an old one that finally had to go due to a broken bottle of olive oil that it was carrying. The new version has many of the same features...leather bottom, solid canvas...but it's a bit smaller and as it comes in only one size, there's no other option. Also the price is MUCH higher...though hard to know in "today's dollars" what the old one would cost. It's a solid, useful product. We do many short weekend trips and the duffel is great for just such excursions. Would love to see a bigger (and maybe a smaller) version though. I also appreciate the color options, and I hope that this one ages as well as its much-loved predecessor.

A really well made, understated, practical design. Recent trip my wife took a rolling carry-on. That piece of luggage alone (nothing in it) weighed more than my packed duffle. The medium duffle is a perfect size for an extended weekend. Please revive more traditional, early designs.

I really like the old school materials, I expect this back to look even better as it wears and patinas with age. It seems well built and sturdy. It has two related weaknesses however: one is it is a really big bag . Sometimes that is great, it is the only bag I needed for a week in the Bahamans, but it is more bag than I can use most times and I don't think I will pull it out very often. Certainly not for a weekend trip unless I needed to bring bulky sweaters or something. I would prefer a smaller size. The second flaw is that because the bag is so big, when carrying it with the shoulder strap, the bag droops in the middle and instead of resting against your hip, it sinks down to rub against your moving leg, or under your butt if the strap is over your shoulder and neck. This made it extremely uncomfortable to carry for long distances. So great for a large bag to be carried in and out of a car with the hand straps, but not worth it if it has to be carried with the shoulder strap over a longer distance.
