This was advertised to me in an email that it was a bag for men. Had a awesome European looking dude in a suit holding one. The exterior of this bag is AMAZING. Saltwash, thick canvas--loved it. However when I opened it, my heart dropped. No where in the ad on llbean signature did it say that the interior was girly color plaid lined ! Come on LLBean! Pink yellow and blue? I was looking forward to this so much as a weekender. If you just kept the lining to a plain color like white or blue, it would be great for both women AND men. Now I have to give it to my mother for Christmas and pretend I bought it for her ;) haha--it'll work, but next time, either describe the lining or please pick something unisex. This just doesn't work for men.

I love the bag so much I bought the little zipper bag that matches and the tote that it can go in as well. I use the large one for overnight travel and the medium for casual purse/tote with the zippered bag in it for my clutter. It keeps my bag organized and holds everything except my wallet so I can find what I need without the scrabble. Love all three bags.

I ordered the teal because it is my favorite color. When the bag came it was way too "saltwashed" and the handles were too short to carry over the shoulder. I returned it. It was nicely lined though.

The website states this bag is 18 1/2 inches wide. However, that's the measurement of the bottom only. The bag immediately diagonally juts out so that the actual width of the majority of the bag is close to 26 inches. QUITE large and too large for a beach tote which was what I was looking for. So, I'm sending mine back for the medium size which should be perfect. The colors are all beautiful but for me the Atlantic red is best. Highly recommend this, just beware that bag is larger than stated, or rather they probably should have added an additional measurement to describe the width of most of the bag. Great quality.
LL Bean is fabulous - great merchandise, great customer service, good prices.

I loved the look of this bag but didn't buy it at first because I'm 5'5" and it's too large for me to use as a tote.
Then we found out that a granddaughter is on the way, so I bought it immediately and it is now "wardrobe central," holding numerous bags of yarn.
If you do craft work of any kind, this bag might become your best companion. It is beautiful, and has a pretty lining. As my knitting bag, it is appropriately sized.

This bag is my soulmate and I don't know how I lived without it so long.
Like a wonderful man, it's generous, carries everything I need, has a secure place for my valuables and looks great on my arm.
Yes, it's big. But you can fold the ends toward the inside of the bag which cuts down on the bulk. I find that it does work as a shoulder bag if my coat isn't thick, and the bag is very well made. The sturdy, rugged quality appeals to me.
The plaid lining is not only cute, it's light enough so that finding what you need at the bottom is no problem at all.
Good design and urban simplicity makes me a slave to this product. Hands down better than anything else I've ever tried to adapt to my lifestyle.

I got this first in the teal color, which I love. I used it as a pool bag, but then found I wanted to use it daily to lug things around. I can fit so much in this bag; library books, water bottle, lunch bag, extra fleece jacket, umbrella, even extra walking shoes in a drawstring bag. The plaid lining makes me happy every day. The inside zip pocket is good for small items. The outside pocket has a cute leather patch and holds my insulated L.L. Bean thermos of hot tea. It's tough and sturdy. The only improvement I could suggest is a few more pockets inside, but this is a small issue. I ordered a second bag in black, but the saltwashed finish gives it a gray appearance, so I had to return that one. I'm thinking about another color. The saltwash finish on the teal is just lovely.

This bag is definitely huge, but it is perfect for me. I love that it is sturdy and fits everything I need in one place. It is very multifunctional and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I bought this tote in the denim color after seeing it featured in O Magazine. I always get so many compliments on it! It is definitely an unstructured bag and a little floppy, but it is very classy and large enough to pack for a weekend getaway (maybe even longer if you're a light packer). My best friend loved mine and has borrowed it often enough that I ended up buying her the black one as a gift!

I liked this bag so much that I had a regular LLBean Boat & Tote bag made up in all black, using your custom feature. It looks exactly the same except without the salt wash, and at a much better price. Plus I got it in 2 sizes.
