Rated 5 out of 5 by Gaina Warm, gorgeous - simply outstanding!
I love this sweater very much. I have long been a fan of the wool Kingfield sweaters. When I saw this sweater this year, I wanted it for Christmas. It is so beautiful with the bird's eye pattern all over the sweater, the colors with the sprinkle of red, and the faux leather buttons. It keeps me warm and I feel so good in it. L.L. Bean is the best at offering these beautiful, warm, winter sweaters. I have three now and treasure them each winter. I did not find it itchy, but I wear layers underneath, as I get cold easily.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Curious1 narrow cut
This is a very good looking, well made, heavy sweater. It does need layering because the wool is scratchy. I rated it 3 stars due to my disappointment in it's sizing. The hip and bust run about the same. My rib cage is narrow, my hips - I wear size 10 pants comfortably. The medium measurements would barely work for bust size. The large size would still be slim at the bottom of the sweater and huge at chest. Too bad. It is really a classic in design. Just challenging for women who no longer wear "boy cut" jeans. I'm 5'6", 130 lbs. The sweater must be returned.

Beautiful detail & workmanship on this sweater. Button holes seem too small for buttons to slide through.
Sizing guidelines were exact. My measurements were in between a S\M so I ordered the M and it fits perfectly with enough room for a jersey. The wool blend is a little itchy but not bothersome with a turtleneck jersey. Somewhat pricey for a sweater but given the style, quality & years of wear I will have, it was worth the price

Rated 4 out of 5 by SonataGirl Heavy, warm sweater
The sweater is a little scratchy to touch since it's 100% wool, but not itchy when I tried it on with a long sleeve t-shirt. It's dressy enough to wear to my office (business casual attire). It is heavier then I was expecting, but should be really warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rhubarb737 Nice quality, nice looking
This is a lovely, 100% wool sweater! It seems well made and robust enough to remain my wardrobe for many years. The pattern and details such as the buttons are also very sharp looking. I got the Heather gray which was the colour on sale. I truly love it, but have two small bits of feedback: 1) This particular colour leaves less contrast in the pattern and makes it difficult to appreciate it say, compared to the navy or the new darker gray that they have this year. This isn't a big deal, but probably takes away a hint of the potentially dressed up look of it and gives this particular colour more of a fisherman style casual quality, but not majorly and I actually quite like it myself. 2) Not unexpectedly, this sweater is 100% wool, so it is true that it is a bit itchy-plan to wear a thin layer under it for this reason.
For sizing, I am 5'7", 130lbs-got the XS and it is true to size for me. The sleeves are ever so slightly short.

So why only three stars? I ordered the medium and I'm returning it for a small. I'm 5'7", 112 pounds; I have long arms and often get a medium size so that the sleeve length will be long enough. Size-wise, I'm worried about how the small size will fit because on the medium sweater I ordered, the shoulders and arms fit perfectly, but it was just huge and baggy in the waist and hips, which seemed very strange - very pear shaped. Product-wise, this sweater is absolutely stunning. It has thick, rich yarns, warm, beautifully crafted, and with leather buttons (!). If the size small turns out to fit me well in the sleeve length, shoulders, waist, and hips, I'd definitely change the rating to five stars. The price for this item is appropriate for the quality only if the fit is also correct. I knit sweaters and understand this fabric and pattern, so the fit is a real concern.

Rated 2 out of 5 by tourmalineblue Adorable but itchy
I really wanted to love this sweater when I splurged on it. It's well made, great colors and buttons, comfortable fit. All my sweaters are wool. But this one was so itchy it went back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MapleTaffy Excellent value for money
Well made, excellent quality, warm enough to use as an outer layer in fall. Good sleeve length and is slightly fitted, nice for a heavier weight cardigan. This sweater replaces a previous llbean sweater of similar weight and style that I wore forever .

This sweater arrived two days ago and I wore it yesterday over a very lightweight flannel shirt. I wore it open, as the weather here has been unusually cold for this time of year but not so cold I needed to button it. This is the warmest sweater I have ever had, even warmer than the Kingfield cardigans. I love it, paid full price for it in navy, and it is well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Supervalueshopper I still have this sweater from the '70's!!!
No joke...I bought this sweater in the late '70s and it still looks and feels great. I have it in a medium and it's ok to wear it open. I am one size up now, so for a more generous fit I'm going to order in large in the grey color. The quality is incomparable and the style is timeless. So glad to see it is back!
