Rated 4 out of 5 by TechClothesShopper The zipper should be metal, with larger teeth.
My new vest arrived today. The double zipper is a very useful addition to the vest, however the plastic chosen makes it hard to zip. I expect the small plastic teeth are the weak point of this vest. I'd pay extra for a metal zipper with bigger teeth. Those would be easier to align to zip up. One main reason I got this was the double zipper, but this plastic one will take some getting used to. Although I haven't worn or washed this vest yet, I ordered larger to be able to layer this. I love the side panels and the fact it has pockets. The grey is a calming, lighter color that will be with me for years, assuming the zipper doesn't break. LLBean, please use the double zippers you used on the Gore-Tex Pro Shell or All Conditions Jacket. I've been using that double zipper for years with no problems.

the fleece lining makes the vest not easy to get on and off, depending on what you are wearing. It was a much nicer product without the fleece lining. other than that it is comfortable and warm. Colors are nice.

The Fleece-Lined Fitness vest is comfortable, warm, fits well, and I like it. However, in the one month that I've had it, the thread used to stitch the quilting has already developed many pills that stick out on the outside of the vest. The pills look tatty especially in sunlight, and make the vest seem worn out. Soon it will not be suitable to wear on social occasions, so I will mainly use it for camping.
If it weren't for the pilling thread, I would give this vest a 5-star review.

Fits perfectly--size small on 5'4" 110 lb woman. First wore it before washing over a white cotton ribbed turtleneck. Absolutely no shedding of the fleece as some other reviewers complained about. For $35 this was a real deal. Thx LL Bean.

I ordered this vest, and the Trail Model fleece vest. I thought this would be my favorite, but it's not. It has a very cheap, plasticky feel. Does not do much for warmth in the winter. Maybe for a cool night in the spring. I am Petite XL and was looking forward to the double zipper, since I need more room around the midsection, but this vest still fits very awkwardly and does not look good. Creases under the bust, and does not contour to my curves. It does not have a "down" feel, more like a cheap layer of plastic. Surprisingly, the Trail Model fleece vest looks much better, is warmer, and much better quality, (Think thick warm fleece that warms your entire torso, including a warm zippered collar. I can wear it when running outside in 35-40 degrees with just a shirt underneath.) I would recommend this if you are looking for a vest that ONLY looks good (the quilted pattern gives it a more dressy look.)

Love the longer length and the paneled sides. I have not washed the vest yet, so don't know about durability yet. Looks good and I feel good wearing it. I ordered my regular size. I also appreciate LL Beans return policy, that they stand by their products!

Purchased this vest in color bluebell. We had always been loyal Bean customer but this vest went back. After 1 month of wear, the outer shell started to pill, worse yet the quilted threading started to pill too! Since this is quilted in fine fabric, couldn't use the de-pill tool I got. Suggest change to filament fabric & thread rather than spun quality. By the way, after 2 washes, the fleece became quite flat and worn looking.

i have a deep plum vest, purchased before fleece was added and love it. decided to order three more as the fleece lining was appealing addition. i am disappointed in the cheap quality even though the price has gone up. the worst thing is the zippers. it takes forever to get them lined perfectly. they are off track and jam every time. the material is also much stiffer than the first one. i don't remember having to "break it in ' sort of like an new baseball glove or new pair of cheap shoes. sorry i can't rate these higher, i usually am happy with LL Bean products.

I ordered this vest in Petite XL Black. I love the look of it. It's warm and soft inside while the outside offers a non-bulky quilted look. I like that I don't look "puffy" in it, lol.
Although the fit says relaxed, I would say that is not so. I fall into the end bust measurement for XL on the size chart and this vest fits just perfectly. No spare room really, but I planned on wearing it with a t-shirt so it works for me. (In comparison, the Trail Model Fleece vest IS relaxed as I can fit in a size L with some room to spare.) I'd recommend sticking to the measurement chart for this one. If you're right at the end of the chest measurement and want to wear it with a heavy sweater or sweatshirt, you may want to consider going up a size. It also hit at hip level for me. The XL Petite vest is approx. 24.5" from the neck seam to the bottom.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it does pill a bit at the ribbing on the sides but it's nothing that a little de-pilling won't take care of. It's not that big a deal for me, so I'm pleased with my purchase. I'm thinking of purchasing the navy and ivory too as they are very neutral colors and can go with many outfits.
