Rated 5 out of 5 by SkiMomto4boys Best of the Best
I have yet to find a boys ski shell that I like better than this jacket. It is built like an adult waterproof shell, but sized for my boys. We live in a ski town and my four boys ski a LOT. I will keep buying this jacket every year as long as LLBean makes it. Yes, you have to layer, but us Alaskans are used to that. Because it is just a shell you can use it year round, and put whatever weight of jacket underneath that you need. This shell is perfect. I am so glad we found it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GCHIII Awesome technical shell
This is an awesome technical shell for kids! After looking everywhere I finally found one here. First very few outdoor companies make these for kids. We live in the pacific NW and we ski almost every weekend - it can be full on winter one day and raining the following day and this shell is perfect for both. The point is that it allows you the flexibility to change your layers for the conditions. The other bonus is the hood fits over ski helmets -
again great for rain and snow - no more snow down the back on powder days. Kudos to the designer. This is a very versatile shell that can be used all season whether skiing in the winter or as a rain shell in the summer. My 10 year old loves it - don't change anything.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BettyB711 Beautiful Jacket but...
This Jacket was beautiful but I ended up returning it because you HAVE TO HAVE A LAYER under it if you intend on using it in the winter. The layer (sold separately) was nice and together they make a nice coat. The drawback is that it is two jackets that zip separately. If they zipped into one another leaving one zipper externally, I would have kept this. For an 11 year old boy, I did not think having to zip two jackets every time was going to work so we returned it. With that said, it is a really sharp jacket. I just wish they would address this flaw in design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nausiica Expensive but high quality
I bought the orange for my 11 year old son who does a lot of hiking and backpacking with me. The colour and size were right on (he is an athletic but thin boy and I got the 10-12 size. The shell is very waterproof, I particularly like the elasticized hood. My son wears his fleece under it comfortably and it looks like he is not going to need a winter coat this year (we live in a coastal zone, Vancouver BC).
Only regret: it is extremely expensive for Canadians like me because of the rate of change this year and the duty and taxes to pay. It pretty much doubled the cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by babyjogger Good with one major flaw
I love this jacket, but it's going back. It's great looking, really well made, and I woulda buy it for myself if I could. That being said, we bought it for my 9 y.o. son as a system with the puff and stuff, but the liner jacket does not fully integrate into the shell- he would have to zip up both coats, as they only attach at the sleeve and back of neck. For a boy who can't remember to put on socks in the morning, sadly I thinking zipping 2 jackets will be too much for him. Please bean, fix this going forward!!
