Rated 5 out of 5 by Dadm Super Jacket for winter !
I bought two of these jackets ! The first was not on sale and the second was on sale ! It is a puffer style jacket. The photos are accurate, Although I think it looks better in real life. The down insulation is spread evenly throughout - including the collar! The jacket is light and well made. You cannot buy a better jacket at the original or sale price ! I prefer the jacket size as opposed to a 'parka' as it is easier to get in and out of a car with. I left my first jacket with my son in Colorado last Christmas. It was superior to what he had. I bought the second jacket when I spotted it here on sale ! I am 5'11" and weigh 175 lbs. Size large fits well and I can layer with a sweater underneath if wanted. It is lightweight ! Like any other down jacket, I recommend you 'shake the jacket' upside down every so often to keep the down evenly distributed for maximum insulation. effectiveness.

Jacket is cut too wide at waist and below. Otherwise a good looking jacket. Bought the two toned gray and my son likes the colors very much and he's a particular guy when it comes to colors. It's a bit over-sized. You might want to order down a size as we did.

After receiving this item in a large tall (I am 6'4'' 195), I found the jacket to be more puffy then what the pictures on the website makes it seem. The jacket did seem warm but was just too much jacket for what I was looking for so I will have to return the item.

I received this ""warmer"" jacket yesterday. Last night I wore it in +15 degree weather with no wind. The jacket was almost useless against the cold.
The jacket specifications indicate that it keeps the wearer warm to -15 degrees. I was in weather a full 30 degrees warmer than the minimum and the jacket didn't keep me warm.

Got this for Christmas and really like it very much. It's light weight, good looking, well made and warm. In the fall and spring I wear the LLBean Warm Up jackets, but wanted something warmer ... I have a 10 yr old LLBean Baxter State Parka which I love and use for really cold and snowy weather (shoveling, snow blowing, etc.), but wanted and needed something in between the parka and the warm up jackets. This hit the spot. Really like this coat very much.

I live in the south so it's not very often I need a down jacket, but we had some cold (for us) weather this week (18F low and 38F high). The Trail Model Down Jacket fit the bill perfectly. I was toasty warm while wearing this coat to and from work. The cold wind chill didn't bother me at all while walking outside. I found the coat almost too warm at times while out running errands over lunch. The only thing I might change would be having elastic cuffs inside the sleeve instead of just an elastic band. A cuff might keep the air out a little better. Overall this is a great jacket, but unfortunately I won't be able to wear it that often as it doesn't stay cold long enough in my area. The jacket is not too puffy and looks really good on, and is light weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mycroft454 Great Jacket, Good Value
Bought this jacket a few months ago and just recently had time to put it to the test as temps here in the northeast dropped into the 20s. I can happily report that this jacket is plenty warm and fits perfectly (I'm 5'8" and 170 lbs.). I have worn it with out a sweater and I have been very comfortable esp. since I'm a person who is usually cold. Also, since it covers the throat area well I have not needed a scarf.

I had the older jacket in green and always wanted black so I ordered it, not knowing that the styling had changed. The new fit is less smug in both the arms and around the torso. The down insulation is thinner than the old jacket. I am returning it but it makes me appreciate the older model all the more, which is as warm and cozy as ever.

I do not think I have ever been as unhappy with an LL Bean product - especially winter jackets (of which I have three others) - as I am with the OQJT140004 Trail Model Down Jacket. First day of delivery (1/4/16), a cold norther wind suggested a good time to test out this brand new jacket. Well, dog needed a walk, but I did not need to freeze, which I nearly did. Jacket has no collar, has snaps to close up front over the zipper, and is very, very light weight - almost like a spring weight jacket. I don't know wha trail you are supposed to wear this garment on, but it had better not be anything more than a March city sidewalk. My sincere recommendation: DO NOT BOTHER TO CONSIDER THIS PIECE OF JUNK. It is overpriced and even with discounts is not worth buying.

I'm 6'2", 225lbs and wear a 36 waist in jeans. The Large Tall fits great. Plenty of room in the shoulders and arm openings to wear over a fleece or sweatshirt without being baggy. Bought mine in black and am happy with the color - is a durable material and doesn't have the cheap looking shiny finish.
