Rated 5 out of 5 by HuckleberryFunn Great Boat
I am a converted rafter. Read many reviews on many sites and paddled a few different brands before deciding on a WS Aspire. I took it on an 5 hr paddle down a particularly challenging section of the Wolf River in Memphis Tn. This section is filled with Cypress knees and I had no trouble maneuvering around and thru them. This boat responds well to sweep strokes and I could turn 180 with two. Tracking is true with or without the skeg deployed. Stability is great.....I could actually stand up and lean forward to free my bilge pump without fear of capsizing. This little yak is also quick, I had no problem keeping up with anyone. Much has been said about the seat, I found it easy to adjust but not as well padded as some may like. My bony butt appreciated the addition of a closed cell cushion. Storage is outstanding for a boat of this size. Back hatch and full rear bulkhead allow for dry storage.... ( my hatch does not leak but I use dry bags as a fail safe) and ample room between the legs and atop the decks, make this a great weekend camper. The service I received from L.L. Bean was first quality !!!!! What a joy dealing with such friendly, helpful and knowledgeable folks.
If you are looking for a dependable, fun, rec yak.....look no further.
