by PortlandOregon2012 THANKS FOR THE RE- REDISIGN !
I purchased a pair of these in the "SHOE" version back in 2005-2006 and loved them... Chocolate brown color & black. I wore them until the sides of the big toe area started to crack last year. When I went to purchase another pair last year (2011), I was very disappointed in the re-design-- in color, style & in all the poor reviews about the poor fit, blisters, etc., So, I didn't buy any and went with wet feet.
When I received my recent Bean's catalog, I noticed the storm chasers were re-designed again! The Chocolate Brown/Coffee color is back, the look is similar to the shoe style I bought years ago, but even better--- It's a 6" boot!
I wear orthodics and they fit great in these boots. I ordered the same 8.5 size as I did 6-7 years ago and they fit the same. True to size, slightly wide.... for heavier socks and/orthodics,
Love 'em! Oh, and THANKS for listening to your customers and making proactive changes. This is what makes LLBean different & better than other companies. Don't change!

Rated 5 out of 5 by phenixva Best muck boots I have owned- on 3rd pair
I wear these boots every day for barn and paddock duty plus whatever other outside 'boot chores'. Each pair has lasted about a year before any problems arise that preclude wearing them when it is wet. I am thrilled with the newest iteration with the leather and rubber. I used to wear duck boots but the stitches would never last and/or the lining would collapse. Terrific price too- even without the sale; I wish I had a reason to retire my backups so I could could rationalize stocking up. Not just durable but comfortable in winter and summer.

Being from North Carolina, it is a rare occasion for us to get snow and ice. I have never invested in winter boots because I have never needed them before. I figured one day of icy weather wasn't worth it. But this winter proved to be a huge exception. After almost breaking an arm, I decided it was time to suck it up and buy some boots. I was so happy to have found these boots from LL Bean. Great price, very affordable and perfect for the occasional snow storm in NC. They are very comfortable, keep my feet warm and keep me from slipping and sliding on the ice. I am going skiing and hiking in Colorado this weekend and can't wait to bring these boots along for the trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for affordable and practical winter boots.

These boots are fantastic. I wore them all day the first day they arrived, and experienced no discomfort at all. I wear a size 9 1/2 and my feet are narrow to medium. The boots fit great, and allowed plenty of room for sturdy wool winter socks as well. A bit stiff in the ankle, which works for me because I have weak ankles anyway, so they helped me stay upright walking through a lot of snow. Waterproof, really warm inside. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by PNWGrandma Good - not as comfortable as the old short version
LLBean, PLEASE bring back the 4-eyelet SHOE version of storm chasers!!
I live in the Pacific Northwest. We get a lot more rain than snow, so a 6" boot is a bit of overkill. I have worn the shorter storm chasers for years and loved them. When my old ones finally wore out, I order a pair of the boots since the shoe version was no longer available. :-#
The sizing is true, and I can wear them with both lightweight and heavyweight socks. They are reasonably comfortable. After a number of wearings, the uppers are still stiff, and they are a LOT heavier than the shoe version. Both of these factors keep them from being "all-day" comfortable like my old storm chasers. By the end of the day, my ankles are tender, and my feet are tired. I am still thinking about whether or not I'll return them and try the slip-ons. I'm not usually a fan of slip-on winter shoes because they tend to slip too much unless I wear heavy socks all the time (too hot!#.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NJGP Wonderful Boots!
I love, love love these boots!! It's been a tough winter up in the northeast and my old boots just weren't good enough for the deep snow and slush. These boots are very warm without overheating my feet. And comfortable - oh my gosh!! - they are so comfortable!! Just like wearing my sneakers! The only thing that is taking me a while to get used to is the height. I purposely bought the taller model for deeper snow but I wasn't used to wearing boots this tall so it's taking me a while to break them in. I sure wish I had bought these sooner!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by 4BusyLady Storm Chaser boots were exactly what I needed
I purchased these boots because I have been outside for hours clearing >20 inches of snow and my old boots leaked. The Storm Chasers kept my feet warm and dry for long periods of time. The fit was as specified.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KIK15 GREAT BOOTS !
I bought these boots at the beginning of winter. Here in SE Mass, we have had a lot of snow this year. I have worn these every time I have shoveled and they have kept my feet warm and dry. I also wear them trail walking in the woods and find them light weight and easy to walk in. Again my feet remained warm and dry. They fit well and have plenty of room in the toe area. I would buy them again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by tml18 Very warm and sturdy
These are my first pair of snow boots and so far they're great. I've worn them a few times during the recent snow we've had in NYC and they have kept my feet toasty warm, dry and comfortable. I feel invincible to rain, snow and ice and in these things!
The only reason they get 4 rather than 5 stars is that they are quite bulky and it took a while to get used to walking in them as well as the look of them. HOWEVER, I will say that by the third time I wore them I found them much more comfortable and I have even grown to like the look of them. Originally I was worried that they were quite manly looking but now I like the ruggedness.
