Rated 3 out of 5 by Obbieuth Sturdy construction, weak foam, short back
This is a decent chair, looking at it online and even with measurements its very difficult to get a feeling for how high the back of the chair is. The answer is, not high enough. I was hoping it would fully support my head and it most certainly does not. I got around that by having a custom cushion made to boost its height a bit. But the back rest needs to be about 5 to 7 inches taller for maximum comfort for most people.
The wood used in the construction is solid and well made. I haven't been disappointed by the foundation of the chair. The cushions leave some room for improvement however. The foam used in the cushions is relatively weak and it will break down to a level that is uncomfortable in about 9 months. That is about how long it took to get uncomfortable for me anyway, and I am not a large man, I weigh 138 lbs soaking wet after eating at a buffet. This isn't necessarily a deal breaker because the cushions have cases around them that unzip. You can take the foam out, order better foam online and fix the problem. You can also order replacement jackets for the foam from L.L. Bean.

We started purchasing LL Bean's mission furniture in 2008 and added the Morris chair and footstool earlier this year. The wood is different from our other pieces, and not quite the same shade, but we didn't expect it to match perfectly. It's pretty close.
The chair is very comfortable in a "sitting straight up good posture" kind of way! We found it to be easy to assemble as long as you have a drill and read through everything first.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TulsaLabLover Not what I expected from LLB
I ordered this chair to match the futon I purchased several years ago. It is by no means the same quality as the futon. It looks like a completely different manufacturer than the futon, which I was pleased with. The color does not match although they are both described as dark mission. The wood is cheap and flimsy. It was very difficult to assemble.
All in all it looks cheap and by no means worth the hefty price charged. If if wasn't so difficult and cumbersome to disassemble I would sent it back immediately. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed with a product from LLBean.
Don't waste your money.

After my original Morris chair, which is about eight years old, had the upholstery damaged, I have been looking for replacement covers, even contacting LLBean about my options and finding none. I then set out to make my own makeshift covers after finding there was no replacement fabric or covers available. With delight, prior to moving and possibly discarding my Morris chair since it looked tacky with the fabric I used, I found the Morris chair to have replacement covers, a new offering. I purchased the gold color which, upon arrival, was on my Morris chair as quickly as I could tear open the green mailing plastic. My Morris chair is happy again, especially knowing there are two other colors available for options to changing its wardrobe. Thank you LLBean for a sensible offering. The covers zipped on easily, felt good to sit upon and match my futon cover as well.
