Would strongly recommend that your wooden Adirondack Chair be replaced with Azek or some other similar composite material. The look and finish would be the same except for the unpainted version. I just returned a set of the chairs after 4 years of use and while the chairs themselves were still solid, the white paint had cracked and peeled and there were mushroom/mold growths everywhere. These were outside chairs, kept under a roof or some other cover about 75% of the time from April thru October in coastal New Hampshire. I looked at the All-Weather Adirondacks as replacements but the High Density Polyethylene material feels and looks too much like plastic so I bought 2 more wooden ones. Please think about a type of composite material for these chairs as they are classics and should be able to last longer in an outside environment. And, because I have a feeling that I?ll be returning these chairs in a few years, I?d like to replace them next time with something that lasts. BTW, I was prepared to spend the additional $100 per chair for the HDPE versions so I?m hoping that others will feel similarly if you offer a longer lasting item that doesn?t look and feel like a big-box store product. This is the first time I?ve had a problem with one of your products. I?ve been a customer for over 40 years and have never been dissatisfied with your service.

Ordered on line and they were here within the week. Quality is good but I'm not sure about the pegs used for keeping it from folding. They are not attached and I can see them getting lost. They look and feel great. I live in Florida but these are being used in my house in the Adirondacks.

I have found these chairs (ordered 2) to be of the highest quality, easily assembled, comfortable, and just what I've always wanted in an Adirondack chair. They are adorning my covered porch overlooking the lake. What better place to sit on an LLBean Adirondack chair watching loons and enjoying my morning coffee.

I bought this chair in the orange and everyone loves it! It's comfortable and eye catching. It is very sturdy and well-made and two of us put it together with no difficulty. It is heavy so would be difficult for one person, but they tell you to use two people in the easy to follow instructions.
My only comment is that I thought it would fold flatter, and it doesn't. It is a bit heavy to lug in and out of the weather, but it's well made so you would expect that. Love it!

I can't speak for the newer chairs, but after reading a few of the comments, I wanted to share my experience with these chairs. I bought 4 of them, plus a side table, over 25 years ago when living on the East Coast. They sat by the pool for several years, in typical summer weather (rain and sun), and spent the winter in the barn (they fold up nicely and can be hung in a small space). Although a bit heavy, they are easy to move when folded.
After moving to AZ, they spent all year on my deck for several years in the hot sun (and monsoons in June). I resealed them once in this time (they were natural wood - clear sealer). Then they moved with me to the PNW (SW WA state).
I recently took them out of my storage shed where they had been for a few years, thinking it was time to 'retire' them after many years of enjoyment, but decided to see if I could reseal them again first. The old sealer was in bad shape, but after cleaning and a light sanding, I decided they were not going to 'retire'. I've put a new coat of sealer on them and they are beautiful once more, and as comfortable as ever to relax in.
The only change is I decided to use a tinted sealer, since after all these year, there were a few stains that didn't want to completely go away. [And I was reading the reviews because I have lost a few of the pegs (which are part of the folding ) and hoping the staff at LLBean can suggest a source to purchase new ones, or will be able to supply them.]
As I said, I can't speak for the new chairs, but I have always been happy with the ones I bought over 25 years ago. LLBean products have always meant quality for me, and this is a perfect example.

Got these in red for our newly-redone yard. They are perfect to sit around a fire-pit. Love the red color too.

After owning these natural finish chairs for one month they began showing signs of mold that I have yet to be able to scrub off. The finish looks thin and if it weren't so much trouble to disassemble and ship - back they would go. save your money! they look good but that's it. HUGE disappointment.

I was worried that these chairs wouldn't be as good as the standard adirondack chairs, because they fold. However, I really wanted the folding chairs so we could store them for the winter. Well, these chairs are beautiful! They were simple to put together, even by myself. They are a bold red that looks great in our yard. And best of all, they fold easily, then open right back up. They seem to be just as sturdy as the other chairs, and are super comfy!

We purchased 2 folding Adirondack chairs 18 months ago. They were expensive, but the quality seemed great. We used them in two different places on our deck. Over time they have weathered severely. The finish has worn off, even in places never touched by a user. The wood and composite covered by the finish is showing through, checking and swelling.
Today we are having the chairs re-finished. LL Bean's customer service is so good that I'm sure they would have replaced them. However, we did not want to go through that process of re-packing, mailing, etc., nor do we think we should have to. We are disappointed.

I own a couple of L.L. Bean's folding Adirondack chairs from years ago and have liked them so much that I bought another. Alas, alas, the new iteration is several inches smaller side to side and front to back. It felt wrong the instant I sat in it. Adirondack chairs are supposed to be spacious. That's part of the point. It's not that this chair is uncomfortable exactly, it's just that it doesn't feel like a real Adirondack chair. It feels like a pseudo-Adirondack chair, or a quasi-Adirondack chair, or perhaps a post-Adirondack chair. You can't settle into it. It doesn't make you want a gin and tonic. It has the look of the thing but lacks the soul. I won't send it back, but I won't buy another one either. I'm now on a quest to find an Adirondack chair, a real one like the ones L.L. Bean used to sell. Those slats had soul.
