I got the wood stained version to put in a shady spot in the backyard on the grass. Within a year the gloss coating on the wood was peeling and within 2 years the wood was rotting where it came into contact with the ground. While this may last a while on a covered porch that stays dry, I would not recommend it for an unprotected location.

These were easy to assemble with just one socket wrench and the provided Allen wrench.
The packaging needs to be improved as there was too large and too many unrecyclable plastic bags inside the cartons.

Defective when they came in. The paint was not finished. The first week paint chips everywhere on my patio and yard. These are expensive and to have to repaint them as soon as I receive them defeats the purpose of buying a finished product.

These wood chairs are a great addition to the patio/deck. The wood chairs have a little more room and I think a better profile than the all season ones. The only problem is that they are assembled first, then painted. This leaves wood on wood contact points. After a few outdoor seasons, dry rot occurs at these points. This occurs even though I take them in for winter each year. They are outdoor chairs and I do not cover from summer rains. This purchase I am disassembling and repainting to get paint coverage at these contact points. Great chairs, just wish they would paint first, then assemble. Especially for the price that you pay. Would expect to get more than 3-4 years usage. Am anticipating many more years with proper painting.

I bought 2 chairs a few years ago as an anniversary gift for my husband and myself and we have enjoyed them, but when I went to tighten up all the hardware before putting them out this year, I found that the wood had broken away around a few of the screws on the front of the seats where they attached to the legs, making them unstable. I found myself this morning looking on line at other places to replace the chairs and in reading their reviews, I realized how helpful they were. I think the chairs would be fine on a porch, but if you plan on putting them out on an open patio where they will get any weather, you will be very dissapointed in the quality.

We ordered 4 of these chairs in 2011 and when we brought them out of storage this April we noticed each of them had some splitting, cracking and/or rot in various parts of each chair. We store them when cold weather starts and bring them out each Spring. We called LLBean Customer Service and was told that the quickest way to get the replacement chairs would be to take them to the nearest LLBean Store. We took them to the Fayetteville NY store and Lydia was most helpful. She ordered the 4 replacement chairs on Friday April 22 and we received them on Tuesday April 26. We were informed that the vendor has changed the type of wood they are made of and we hope these will last for a long time. LLBean Customer Service is GREAT!!

áby Mike1138 Disappointed in Charleston, SC
We purchased 2 folding wooden Adirondack chairs and folding side table in early 2012 to sit on our back patio. We enjoyed the chairs almost every night between March and October (except for August - it's just too hot)! They are comfortable, easy to store in the off season, and look great. Last week, while cleaning the chairs after the 2-week spring pollen season, I discovered significant rot on the vertical support where the brass hardware attaches to the seat, about one foot above the ground. The wood simply broke apart when I wiped it down with a damp sponge.
Although the furniture retained a nice appearance, a closer inspection revealed that both chairs and the table were structurally unsound due to wood rot around the metal hardware on the vertical supports.
Although we are loyal L.L.Bean customers, we are disappointed that we can no longer recommend this product to our friends, family, and colleagues due to its poor durability.

Rated 1 out of 5áby JMass Did not stand up to LLBean's usual quality. Rotted
Very disappointed in this purchase. I love LLBean's quality standards but these chairs don't live up to it. We bought two chairs a few years ago and they began to peel after a month and after one season, showed signs of rot even though they are used on a deck. We have friends that have had the same issue. Significant investment, wish we had ordered the all-weather.

Easy to assemble even for the mechanically challenged. The quality is excellent. I purchased these exact chairs in 1993 and had them for ten years. They were out all summer and only needed minor touch ups for winter storage. They were sold when I moved to an apartment. Now I'm in a house again and immediately ordered two chairs for my patio.

the chairs are great, easy to assemble, sturdy feeling. Color red is not a true red but a little orange. Ordered 3.
