Rated 5 out of 5 by mommycozy Nice fit and lovely style
It's a lovely summer dress. The plaid pattern looks young and wholesome. Drapy and breezy fabric for summer time. I am quite petite, less than 5ft tall and only 100 pounds in weight. Size 4 petite fits me nicely. I hope it won't shrink in the wash.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Susan99 Great fabric, fit a little different than usual
As always, the fabric of this dress is wonderful. I can't wait for warmer weather in which to wear it. But a few notes about the fit -- I bought a 4 petite, which would usually be too large for me in LL Bean sizes (5'1", 100 lbs). But it was on sale for 19.99 so I figured I'd give it a try. The top actually fits quite well, and I like the fact that the V-neck is stitched down so there is no gaping. But starting at the band below the top, it's too big and sort of boxy. I am going to keep it given the price and the fact that I don't mind it being loose around the waist and hips.

Love the color and the feel of it but it runs extremely small on top. I am a good solid 12 but I bought a 14 to be comfortable. Still to tight up top. Had to exchange it for a 16 which I have never worn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SharonWM Nice fabric for hot climate
I ordered this dress delivered to me on vacation in Puerto Rico, so kept my fingers crossed that it would fit as my last size 4 dress from LL Bean was huge in the top and had to be altered.
This one fit fine on the side with the zipper but the other side is totally straight and will have to be taken in from the armhole to the waist. That said, I have worn it and the fabric is perfect for hot weather. Once it is altered, it will be a favourite.
I wish LL Bean still made their clothes in the USA. The sizing and workmanship were better.

There's something about this dress that is reminiscent of the far, far East.
Maybe it's the exquisite subtlety of its styling.
Or the understated elegance of its design: Pale blossoms, the first blossoms of Spring, strewn on a Cirrus Blue background, more beautiful than a mere sky blue.
Maybe that's why "oriental" is defined as "of superior grade, luster, or value".
It's true that his dress runs small, depending on which size chart is being used at which time and from which source. So everyone needs to "size-up".
But that smallness of size makes it a special treat for all those underlings among us, who can at last fit into a Beanian dress, as the size 4 is like a size 2.
I love this dress for its oriental sensibility as that seems to be the highest honor one can bestow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by gagesnana Anyone with a large chest, forget about this dress
I ordered the next size up than my usual size since I read the reviews and a lot said it was tight on top. That is an understatement. I'm going to try the 16 which I never worn in my life. Love the color and will be very disappointed if it doesn't fit.

Was not tight in the armholes on the 16, fit my chest fine, which runs 40-42. Was baggy, am trying a 14 next. Nice dress, working on getting the proper fit.

Arm holes too small. Waist in the wrong place and unflattering if you have a bust bigger than an A. Wrong size - had to send it back for a smaller size even though I followed the sizing chart. The only thing this dress is good for is the material, which is lovely. Cut it apart and make a skirt or a vest. If you have that kind of time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by enkay25 Tailored incorrectly, poor fit
LLbean was so nice to send me bigger sizes of this dress after my usual size did not work, but the replacements did not work either.
I am 5'10", 150 lbs, 34DD. I wear size 8 or 10 in dresses depending on brand/cut.
I first ordered 8 and 10. I could not even get into the 8 and could not zip the 10 comfortably. Then I got the 12. I just measured it for this review: shoulders 14 inch, chest 18 inch. This is really small for something labeled size 12.
It was tight in the shoulders and awkward to zip. It did zip though. The bust seemed a little loose above the waistband. It cannot be altered because of the waist band. I am sending them back.
The fabric is nice and the peach/apricot color is very pretty. I liked it better than the blue-green.

That may seem like a contradiction, but I could tell when I took it out of the package that it was very boxy from the waist down. And it was. On top, however, it was very tight--and I went up a size (to an 8P). Fabric was crisp and lovely; workmanship excellent as usual. But this looked positively AWFUL on me. Back it goes.
