Rated 5 out of 5 by CarmenSandiego stunning and functional?another win for Bean!
I purchased the deep yellow XS Petite for my mother as a gift. She's 5'0" and 100 lbs. It fits her perfectly and the yellow is a truly gorgeous, not-too-bright yellow. It looks like a jewel tone color, like a yellow diamond.
I'm 5'1", 112 lbs. and busty. I tried my mother's XS Petite, which was perfect everywhere but snug at the chest. So I ordered the black in Small Petite and advise you all the following: size this down sweater according to your chest measurement. There is no shoulder seam, so the shoulder will adjust. The bottom arm has an elastic band so even arm length is somewhat adjustable. This hits above the hip, so that leaves your bust to be the size determining factor.
The fabric is a soft, silk-like nylon. The sweater is amazingly light and the 3 pockets will each come in handy. I collapsed the garment into the pocket, as intended, and the process was easy peasy! After re-opening the sweater there were no creases. Finally, the overall look is both sporty and elegant.
I'm trekking Mount Everest with my mother in a few months. Her yellow sweater will provide additional visibility in case of emergency.
All in all, this is a win for Bean!

As light as a cloud. Warm and soft. No feathers poking through my sweater. I am 120 and 5'3". Ordered a small. I was a little nervous based on reviews but went with my normal size small. It ran true to size and small was perfect with a little room for layering to spare. Sleeves has a small elastic band so they fit too. Highly recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BadKitty Too small across chest - going back
Very light weight (as advertised) and the bright yellow color is fun. Its nicely fitted except too tight across bust. Double checked sizing chart: large = 40-41 1/2". Checked myself again, 40 1/2". The jacket fits great in the back -- maybe a tad loose -- but taunt across chest with just a thin t-shirt underneath. I've had this problem with another LL Bean jacket; not designed for chesty ladies. On the plus side (for me), the sleeves were a little longer than usual and actually fit me. I usually wear a 12 or 14 in LL Bean tops, 5'9", 185lb, D cup.

I am 5'2" and 123lbs small petite in black is a perfect fit. Light weight. Have not tried it yet in cold weather. Taking it on Alaskan cruise folds up to pocket size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LLMacDaddy Ultralight 850 Down Sweater Thumbs up!
I first started searching for a nice lightweight down jacket after a friend had bought one but wasn't sure I would like it. After searching I found this one from LL Bean and I bought the black one. I liked it so much, I bought one more, this time yellow.
Pros: Lightweight, works well, and the quality of the down is very nice. If you dress in layers, you can put another layer on top if needed.
Cons: The down does tend to leak out a bit but most jackets do, and the zipper is a bit tricky.

This is a great sweater-light weight jacket. Bought it in a black, size medium petite, I'm @5'4"--120-125lbs, and love the fit, and red zipper up front. Feels great on, the fit is "girlie", which I like, and it is very warm. I bought the black scrunchy downtek vest in a small petite for extra warmth to wear under the sweater-jacket, and this is a good combination. My only disappointment with the sweater and the vest is that they do not have two way zippers,(like on the 650 down vests) which would be much better when sitting down to release the strain on the bottom of the zipper, which doesn't look to be too strong at the bottom, and which I hope doesn't break. It would have 5 stars with a 2x zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 4Outside Best coat ever!
I LOVE this coat. Lightweight, not bulky, but very warm. I was warm in 10 degree weather - not toasty, but as warm as any other coat I've ever had. The difference is I can wear this in warmer weather and be comfortable without sweating and being uncomfortably warm. And I can go from standing to hiking and snowshoeing in cold weather. If it warms up enough to need to take it off, it is lightweight enough to fit easily into a small backpack. Helps keep down on the layers needed for fun in the snow. For a cold day when I had to stand around, I wore a light fleece under it and was very warm and toasty - completely blocked the wind.
Plus it's stylish enough to wear everyday wherever I go without feeling like I've had to dress for a trek on the tundra in order to keep warm - and then burn up in the car or inside. Definitely a good coat to travel between climates (as others have mentioned).
My only complaint was that I went when I saw them on sale - but black (which I prefer) was not on sale. I debated paying full price - both because it's expensive and because I was miffed that they didn't have them all on sale. But, while the principle of that still bothers me, it's the best money I've ever spent on a coat and I'm very happy I got it.

When a friend saw my down sweater, she wanted one for herself. So I ordered one for her, and she is finding it very versatile and it is most stylish.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ramblewood Definitely a sweater - not a jacket!
Looking for a down jacket, I purchased this based on the 850 down content. However, as good looking as it is, I bought the black with the red accents, it's no warmer than a good sweater. I was disappointed and was going to return it but my husband convinced me to keep it. I do love the look and the fit and that was the only reason I kept it. If I go out in any weather colder than 50 to 60 with no wind and warm sun, it's fine. Weather not that nice?, I'm wearing a jacket. So, I'm still looking for a nice fitting down jacket....

Rated 5 out of 5 by travlingal Another great product from Bean's
I purchased the down sweater before skiing because I have a shell jacket and wanted a lightweight garment underneath. It was wonderful because it is warm but not bulky. I have since worn it as a light weight jacket when traveling because I can pack it into its pocket and it takes little space. It's perfect for cooler mornings and evenings while in a warm climate, and it also works well for airline travel when you will be going from climate to climate.
